I began my voice-over experience at WQED television, in Pittsburgh PA. I did narrations for national and local tevevision shows.
In college, I made money by narrating audio/visual presentations for student projects.
Because people find some special quality in my voice, especially when they hear my phone messages, I have recorded scores of telephone greetings for individuals and small companies.
I was a talk show producer/host on two televiosion shows in Pittsburgh, as well as three radio shows. My talk show experience spans about 40 years.
I have been out of the field for a while and have devoed my energy to college teaching. Even, in that venue, colleagues and students frequently remark that I "should be doing a television show."
I have had extensive experience as a public speaker and as a guest on national and local television and radio shows. Quite frankly, for years I was giving so many talks I stopped writing them down.
On a personal level, women seem to be attracted to my voice and describe it as "sexy" Quite frankly, I have no idea what that means. One woman said she loved my voice because it was so "precise" I have no idea what that means either, but I think it was a compliment.
Many, who have worked with me, say I make narration appear to be very easy. My feeling is that it should be easy because all you are doing is using your God-given ability to communicate with your voice.
I have a wide variety of experience in the media. In addition to being a talk show host, I have done voice-over at WQED TV; it was there that I received my first training in the area. I received additional voice-over and recording commercials by individuals, who were doing such work at WAMO and WYJZ radio.
I did some acting in plays during my college days where I learned how to "project" my voice. I also learned proper techniques for "miking" VOICES AND MUSIC.
I have taught college-level courses in mass communication and public speaking as well as television and radio production.
I was the editor for a local, weekly, newspaper. I have conducted a series of Oral History interviews and taught others how to conduct valid Oral History studies.
I have an earmed PHD from the University of Pittsburgh.
Whike I did have a small recording studio in my home, I sild all the equipment when I went into college teaching. I did own all manner of microphones including, wireless, lavalier, cardiod, omni and uni-directional, shotgun and boom. I have used analogue and digital recording and mixing equipment. If the field is lucrative enough I am sure i can set up a small, professional, home recording studio as I had previously.
I have been involved in all manner of media, both electronic and print. I have coached public speakers and actors. I have written scripts to be presented by upper-level management when I was employed by H.J. Heinz Corporation. I was the Director of Public Information and Research for a major, national Human Service organization. I have been in management for most of my adult life. I am responsible and self-motivating as well as being a motivator. I have extensive public speaking experience and have written for upper management. I have written a book and am now seeking a publisher.
All of my positions, since I was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army have been, at minimum, at entry-level management.
I was and am a Professional photographer and once operated a successful commercial studio.
I am an expert in African Art and have traveled, extensively, throughout Africa. I am a qualified appraiser of African art and belong to two professional appraiser association. I am reliable and professional in all I do.
