Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
My specialties are British, which is to say several varieties of "English" accents (BBC British, Cockney, West Country, North Country) as well as Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and Cornish.
I can also do Russian, German, French, Mexican, and South African. My American accents include Midwestern, "Noo Yawk," and a number of Southern dialects from Texas to Georgia.
As far as impersonations, I can do a few, but most are deliberate character voices like the Swedish Chef or Yoda (mind you, I can imitate both the Frank Oz Yoda voice from the movies and the way John Lithgow played him on radio). I can also do a good impression of Fred Allen, a comedian from the Golden Age Radio.
But I'll have a try at anything!
My Voice Experience
As part of my training at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting, I interned at radio station WRMN/WJKL in Elgin, IL, where I wrote, produced, and performed over one hundred commercials for local businesses.
I've also volunteered at CRIS Radio, a Chicago service which reads books and news items for the blind.
My paid experience has included two cable television commercials for AT&T.
My Training
Graduate of the Illinois Center for Broadcasting in Lombard, IL, 1999.
Graduate of the Voices For All Master Class Program, 2007
Prolific actor in community theater, playing such characters as Ebenezer Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" (Wheaton Drama, Inc., Wheaton, IL, 2001), the Cowardly Lion in "The Wizard of Oz" (Stagecoach Players, DeKalb, IL, 2004), Merlyn and Dap in "Camelot" (Town Square Players, Woodstock, IL, 2006), Don John in "Much Ado About Nothing (Riverview Theatre, McHenry, IL, 2009), Caesar Rodney in "1776" (Town Square Players, Woodstock, IL, 2010), and a total of seven characters in four different productions of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," including Puck and Bottom.
My Studio Equipment
I have a friend whose system comprises a microphone and the Audacity editing program. And thanks to my ICB training, I know my way around an editing suite.
Additional Skills
I'm an excellent writer and proofreader, and can tell when one word might be better than another in a line of copy.
