Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I can speak Japanese (lived in Japan for 6 years) and can do a Japanese accent very authentically. But still, you should get a native Japanese speaker for that.

My Voice Experience

I have done a wide range of voiceovers for television, radio, and training materials (web,iPad, and CD). I now specialize in smooth, articulate corporate training voiceovers and radio commercials, not crazy characters (thought I can have fun with that!).

Throw difficult pharmaceutical and scientific voiceovers at me and I won't even blink. I have worked as a copywriter for medical advertising targeted at doctors for more than 10 years. I have an up-to-date working knowledge of the pronunciation of specialized medical and pharmaceutical terms. The first time I was in college I went to graduate school in medical physics.

My Training

Acting and voiceover classes at American Conservatory Theatre and City College of San Francisco (San Francisco).

Voice and songwriting major at Berklee College of Music. Also completed advanced music engineering classes. Very familiar with voice and recording. I run a fully equipped recording studio with 2 partners in midtown Manhattan, a classic recording studio where The Village People started, Bob Marley rehearsed in, Patti Labelle recorded in, etc.

I have worked as a sound designer on more the 75 professional productions. I once recorded a demo for James Earl Jones to help him get the AT&T voiceover gig.

My Studio Equipment

High quality preamps/compressors, including UA 6176.

High quality mics, including AKG 414, AKG C1000, etc.

Professional isolation booth for voiceovers.

Professional music production software that I use on a daily basis (Sonar and SoundForge).

A vast sound effects library I have acquired over the years and have used for sound designs for theatre productions.

Guitars, keyboards, drums, and a 7.5-foot Yamaha grand piano (which sounds amazing).

I currently run a fully equipped recording studio with 2 partners in midtown Manhattan, a classic recording studio where The Village People started, Bob Marley rehearsed in, Patti Labelle recorded in, etc.

I was a professional sound designer for years, a sound mixer on several 6-week tours, and took advanced classes in music recording at Berklee College of Music.

Additional Skills

I have worked as an advertising writer (copywriter) for nearly 20 years. My first job was writing for Roland musical instruments.

I still work as a copywriter and specialize in scripts and voiceovers. I understand the written word you read on a page is very different from the spoken word you hear in real time. Because I perform voiceovers, I know how to write better scripts for speeches and live recording.
