Voice Description

I am mostly hired for my "real" quality. I don't sound like a sultry ad voice--I'm your neighbor, your sister, one of the moms at the PTA.
Most of my recent work has been for educational videos and other programs for children. I have a friendly, approachable quality that plays as a "cool" and engaged teacher or parent in children's projects.
My dialect is neutral Northeastern American (I speak like a newscaster) with no regionalisms of any kind. However, I have an excellent ear and am well versed in many regionalisms which I can layer on if needed.
I am an improv comedian with that impulsive, quirky sensibility and humor. My voice imparts that there is always the potential for fun and humor.
I am an excellent cold reader with an extensive vocabulary and knowledge of a broad range of subjects. As a narrator I can easily grasp complex material and make it understandable and accessible to the lay person or professional alike.
I have been having fun with my voice since childhood and I feel truly lucky to be able to use it professionally.

Additional Skills

As a theater and film performer I have strong acting skills. I am also a director and producer so I can see how my part in a production fits within a greater whole.
As an improv performer I have a facility with characters and situations that lends itself to background color or characterizations that can crop up during a session.
And my skills as a writer have come in handy when a script has failed us in the recording booth--even when the script wasn't mine.
