I have been a call center agent for over 20 years. I started out with an alarm company and answering service. I used different techniques for both jobs and I did them at the same time. The answering service had many different companies.I would answer the doctors line with a caring and helpfull tone. The towing service would require a different type of voice it had to be louder,as the callers were in a noiser area and had to be spoken to slower As far as the alarm calls the voice and to be stern and serious, these calls were of the most importance. I had to speak with firemen, police officers and owners of companies. My pitch and wording had to be perfect.
My last job was in a call center for car dealerships from all over the country and seminar reservations. I used a friendly and kind tone with these types of calls and was told many times I had a very pleasant voice.
I have been a mystery shopper over the phone in the past.My goal was to ask the same question and find out what response the employee would give,by changing my voice I was able to get differen responses. Great fun
