I am fairly new to current voice over work. I gained experience of voice over auditions and did some voice over work as a child for a Smarties TV commercial, followed by work as a teenager for Gibbs SR Toothpaste TV advert, Smith's Crisps TV advert and Ajax TV advert. In my early 20's I worked for a small film production company in London and did some voice over work for a training video for Wiggins Teape paper. Later I worked in advertising and was offered some voice over work for a radio jingle for a Coca Cola advertisement with advertising agency, Colman, Prentis & Varley in conjunction with the US agency, Kenyon & Eckhardt. I spent some time living and working in Toronto, Canada and was given some voice over employment reading children's stories for a local radio station.
I run workshops for a local drama group on voice talent and voice work. I like to remove that dreaded fear people have of public speaking and handing back to any speaker, the freedom, liberating power, the fun and the joy that speaking well and forcefully can engender.
I am an active acting member of local drama groups and I perform on average in about 3 productions per year, ranging from dramas to musicals. I am constantly updating my voice skills to accommodate new acting roles!
I also have experience of film extra work for small local film companies.
I have given many commercial presentations using PowerPoint.
I spent four years attending the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, at their Saturday workshops for young adults. We studied mime, improvisation, speech, drama and performance, as well as workshops devoted to the use of the voice, speech and phonetics.
I did some voice over work in my late teens and early 20's and gained valuable experience.
I have recently undertaken some intensive, in-depth voiceover training to update my skills, taught by the highly experienced Gary Terzza of the UK's Channel 4 TV, with whom I made a demo.
I regularly attend Master Acting workshops. The most recent was with Ron Aldridge, playwright and actor.
Additionally I teach English as a foreign language and my speciality is English pronunciation which requires constant use of the voice, with particular emphasis on intonation, stress patterns, sounds, words and phonetic transcriptions.
I have a complete home studio for audio edition. I use a Neumann microphone.
Film, theatre and art are my passions and my observations of life are where I gain my inspiration for creating characters and diverse voices.
I have performed with local drama groups for the past 10 years. I have a varied range of performance skills.
When I am teaching English to non-English students, I record some of my own exercises and examples on cassettes and audio CDs for them.
I am a qualified trainer and teacher and I have run many corporate business workshops ranging from topics on career management to time management, effective questioning techniques and presentation techniques. I have used my voiceover talent by writing and giving 'after dinner' speeches and I have also appeared on TV talking with Rosie Boycott. I am often approached by friends to help record their telephone voicemail greetings or voice mail messages.
I enjoy comedy and I have a great sense of fun and humour. I am a committed, reliable and dedicated artist and extremely flexible with my availability for work. I enjoy voice over employment and I am easy to work with, taking direction very well. I love reading and working on scripts, adapting my voice and delivery to specific requirements.
I am lively and energetic and love the adrenalin and flow that comes with trying to juggle and fit everything into a busy working, home and social life!
