Voice Description

When I met my first voice coach, John Burr, he used the terms, "rich,strong baritone and a great set of pipes". I have always considered my voice an asset and one that attracted attention to and was respected by its listeners. A long life of experiences that has always involved interpersonal relationships or public presence has provided me with a large "tool chest" for voice over acting. Prior to switching to Voice Over full time, I was a practicing PhD canidate in the field of addiction recovery. As such. my voice can be caring and compassionate or directive and leading ..as the situation requires. As a Senior Chief Petty Officer with over 26 years in the Navy, I easily create a strong military, authoritarian or law enforcement officer characterization. The good news is that I can alter my voice and become caring, loving or sensual as the situation dictates.
I can be strong and directive as in the role of a CEO or the caring Dad or dooting grandparent. As a successful RE Broker/owner and manager, I communicated with hundreds of agents as well as individual clients. Being an excellent listener allows me to communicate at a level of professionalism to meet all of your voice over requirements.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Although not presented on the demo I do an Irish,
Jewish and Indian accent. Being born and raised in Brooklyn, when the Dodgers called it home, I also
do a terrific Noo Yawka acccent.

My Voice Experience

It all began in 1947 when I appeared in High Button Shoes as Phil Silver's sidekick and grew when I played Henry Fonda's son in Point of No Return with over 70 television appearances that honed my tones during my early teenage years. At 17, I began a 26 year career in the Navy which included 16 years on Submarines.. DIVE!!DIVE!! (that was me),three years as a teacher in front of a classroom teaching Human Resources, being a mother and father to recruits as a boot camp instructor and four years as the Drug and Alcohol Program Manager for 60,000 sailors in the Naval Air Forces in the Pacific where I traveled worldwide as a trainer and lecturer. The communication skills that I exhibited throughout my career resulted in many awards and medals of recognition of which I am very proud. My undergraduate degree is in Human Behavior with an emphasis on Substance Abuse and I have over 30 years sobriety and have told my "story" as a speaker in AA too many times to count. I am a long time member of Toastmasters and a speaker at my church. I am a trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming and was a master trainer with Anthony Robbins. I am also a board certified hypnotherapist with over twenty years experience in that field. I've been a bartender and a bouncer, so I know how to calm as well as intimidate with my voice.

My Training

I am currently studying with James Alburgr and Penny Abshire and have completed their 3day VO and masters class I studied with john Burr for over a year. I have attendedy attended seminar given by Elaine Clark and Harlan Hogan. As a youngster (from 7 to 13)I was on Broadway in High Button Shoes and Point of No Return. While acting on Broadway and Television I studied both voice and acting with professional instructors whose names I have long since forgotten. I have been a member of the Toastmasters Organization for over twenty years and speak publicly about three times a month. I am also a board member of my church and am freqently called on to address the congregation. My undergraduate degree is in Human Behavior, my masters in Psychology and am currently enroled in a Doctoral program furhering my studies in psychology and hypnosis. I am a practising hypnotherapist and have a trance voice that will let you go deeper and deeper..NOW. I've also taken singing lessons and have a voice that is 2nd baritone.I also continue to take acting classes as well as improvisation
to hone my skills. And while I have yet to meet someone that can shout louder than I can, I can soft talk an angry grandchild to sleep in just minutes.

Additional Skills

While I've previously listed a lot of what I've done let me add some additional facts that you as the producer, director or writer might consider as supportive of voice over projects. I've done volunteer work with seniors, gang members (I was one myself) the homeless and addicted. I am a recovering alcoholic and an addict and more importantly have been sober for more than thirty years ("priceless" as they say on the MasterCard ad).
I have been married for twenty six years to the same woman after getting it wrong (but learning a lot) in two prior marraiges that didn't work. I love animals and the planet, drive a Prius and work out four times a week. I am a spiritual person, a healthy 6'3, 235 pound lover of life that has conquered both cancer and a heart attack. I am an active salt water fisherman,bowler, hiker and card player. I I plan to live the next 30 years with as much or more vigor than my previous years Please don't let my years on the planet scare you as I look 50 and act younger. My life experiences will let me bring your words off of the page in a compelling, articulate and powerful voice that will serve you and your product.
