Theater brought me to voice over! I recorded my first v.o. while still in school for a play that required me to both narrate the story and be in it. That play was voted one of the best in Pittsburgh in 2006. The next year I recorded an audiobook to help a local school. I graduated with a BFA and went on to pursue theatre and theme park in Orlando.
I have a BFA in acting from Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts. While in school I took extensive courses on voice and speech, dialect and voice over. Since being in Orlando I have studied at Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, and with SAK Improv.
I use a Nessie microphone (made by Blue), with an extra pop filter so I can confidently hit those plosives.
I hook the microphone to my iPad so that I can easily record without worrying about computer fans or anything else showing up on the final product.
MDR-7506 Sony headphone let me hear playback with excellent clarity
Simple Garage Band software helps me edit and add any sound effects or music that I might need.
The most important thing for a "voice actor" to be is, first and foremost, an actor. My extensive training and theatre experience is evident in my professionalism and in the quality of the final product I deliver. I am fortunate enough to currently have the best "day jobs" in the world, working as an actor in one of the world's top theme parks. I divide my time between playing a 17 year-old English girl, a storyteller and a cold-hearted business executive. I also love creating characters for special events where I've played everything from a bootleggin' flapper to a hopelessly lost tourist. My joy in the discovery of characters and passion for performance has taken me far, and I am always looking for new adventures!
