To date, my experience has been recording commercials and promotions for local radio stations and some experience in on-hold recordings for a local cable tv company.
Jul-Aug 1993
Production Intern
WFBL-1390 AM
Syracuse, NY
Responsibilities included recording and producing commercials and promotional ads for this local big band radio station which was sold late that summer and is no longer in existence. I recorded my voice on one track of a 4-track reel-to-reel machine, then combined the voice-recording with a music and/or sound effect bed onto Cart cassettes. On many of these projects, I performed commercial and promotional copywriting. I also was the announcer for the Niagara Mohawk stage for that summer's Harborfest in Oswego, NY.
1999
Sales and Marketing Analyst
Cablevision Systems Corporation
Riverhead, NY
While not employed in a voice-over position, my responsibilities did include product marketing, and in this capacity, I did some voice-over work in on-hold Pay-Per-View recordings and live radio-broadcasts for Pay-Per-View Movie Contest Promotions.
2007
Voice-Over Talent
Radio X
Ridge, NY
On a purely volunteer basis, my voice was recorded for use in a few commercials and promotions for this local radio station, which is now no longer in existence.
Current
I am in the process of recording a narration of soldier life in the American Civil War. I am hoping to present this program to historical societies, libraries, and other adult-education outlets by mid-2013.
My voice-over training was through on-the-job production and copywriting during my Summer 1993 internship at WFBL-1390 AM. The more I worked, the better I got, and that still applies today. The more work I get will lead to even better recordings and greater proficiency and completion rates.
I attended a one-day workshop in Suffolk County Community College in November, 2007 where I met Robert Sciglimpaglia, a voice-over talent and a member of Such-A-Voice. After hearing me read a small voice-over sample, his comments were very positive, including "has all the requirements to make it in this business."
I currently have my own PC with a PC microphone, but I often have access to, and prefer, a friend's studio, which is part of a radio station, so the production quality will be quite impeccable. I am willing to visit other studios if needed or desired to ensure even better quality.
It is my desire to use the voice, with which I am fortunate enough to have, to help companies and organizations audibly promote and demonstrate their products and services. Whether it be for a movie, an audio book, a radio commercial, a video game character, or anything similar, I believe my voice can be an excellent, disembodied representative of the offering.
