I realized years ago that if I can successfully sell myself on the air with top ratings in every market I've worked that I can certainly sell a product or a service with the same conviction and results. It's amazing how a simple pause or whisper can suddenly enhance the spot and catch the listener's ear. My 2 best assets are Credability and Believability.
Started my radio career in 1970 after completing my military tour. Also a Viet Nam vet and worked with the American Forces Radio & TV. Had the plessure of working with and learning from the best voices in the industry. They were, and still are, The Legends. I bring that experience with me to the mic everytime I put my head phones on.
MAC PC, Audio Technica 4040 mic. Symtrex 528 & 425 Voice processors, limiter and compressor. Peavy mixer.
I have written more than my share of commercials, many with little or no real facts, and I've learned that brevity IS the key to success. If you want them to remember your product or service find a good hook that describes it and use it. Always talk with the listener in your delivery. Never talk at or down to them. They'll trust someone they feel relatable to. If I'm selling dinner at a Bar B Que restaurant I want their mouths to water. Bottom line.....As far as I'm concerned you "Can't Learn Experience. It only comes with time."
