My Voice Experience

I have done radio and TV voice-over commercials for The Colonel Isaac Barre Restaurant and Inn and Wild Bird Gardens, both in Massachusetts. Co-hosted a radio show for Audio Journal in Worcester from 2005 -2006 ("Cooking On Air"). Years of stage experience. Professional speech writer who helps clients overcome stage fright and present themselves to an audience.

My Training

Voice and elocution training from 1975 - 1980 in England. Bronze, silver and gold medals for Verse Speaking and Prose Reading from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA)in 1980. Winner of the Aylesbury Festival (UK) in sight-reading and poetry speaking. Acted in 7 plays for Calliope Productions between 1985 and 1999. Represented Bristol University (UK) in debating. B.A. Hons degree in German with English Literature. Writer and public speaking/speechwriting coach at Wit, Words & Wisdom: http://witwordsandwisdom.com/. Contributor to inthepowderroom.com/. Always wanted to do voice over work; since closing my full-time catering business I now have the time. Did two local commercials years ago for a inn and a garden center where a British accent was preferred. Hosted a radio show for Audio Journal in Worcester from 2005 - 2006. Winner of "Fastest Mouth in Northborough" in 1992 for singing a song faster than anyone else in a contest (I even outpaced the pianist).

My Studio Equipment

Audacity on my home computer.

Additional Skills

I help people with writing and giving speeches to time their delivery and pace themselves when they lack confidence. My previous business was catering! I owned my own business from 2000 - 2011. Before that, I worked in the children's department at Barnes & Noble from 1995 - 2000, responsible for storytime three times a week, reading aloud to preschoolers. I started a program to inspire 8th graders to enjoy their summer reading by inviting groups of them to the store and reading excerpts from their assigned books.
