My Voice Experience
Began in radio (1996) (WFIL - Salem broadcasting) talking about money, finance, Wall Street, etc. on my own "live, listener call-in" show. (Money for Life) Aired show and recorded commercials and spot promos for my own show and some of the station's other clients.
Went into theatre acting using my voice affectation to re-create the role of Tevye in "Fiddler" and Oscar Madison in "Odd Couple" impersonating Topol and Walter Matthau. Landed the role of Sir Danvers Carew in Jekyll & Hyde impersonating Sean Connery and the role of Templeton in Charlotte's Web impersonating a "Brooklyn-style" street rat (Rizzo). Did stand-up comedy impersonating Larry the Cable Guy. My best fitting "roles/voices" appear to be those of a bigger-than-life character such as a Tony Soprano or Tevye or someone in some position of authority, however I really believe I do have a broad vocal range and would welcome the opportunity to demonstrate. Have produced/narrated/performed more than a half dozen audiobooks on Audible, Amazon and I-Tunes. I believe it would NOT be a waste of your time since even if your current project turns out to be less than a perfect fit... I'll likely be just what you need somewhere down the road.
My background education and experience was in engineering, both mechanical & electrical. Studied voice and theatre acting at Actors Center of Philadelphia. I am continuing my voice studies with coach and mentor Charles "Chuck" McKibben, former studio manager and producer for the legendary Mel Blanc.
My direct experiences include: Professional racecar driver, Certified Financial Planner practitioner, private pilot, radio talk show host and stage actor.
My Studio Equipment
Currently my home studio consists of AKG Perception 200 and Harlan Hogan MXL VO1a microphones into a Behringer 802 mixer, to a Behringer XR-4400 multi-channel noise gate to a BBE 382i Sonic Maximizer thru a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi USB sound card to a dedicated and isolated Dell Inspiron 20 computer running Cool Edit Pro, Audacity and fre:AC audio software. I also have access to TWO professional studios in the greater Philadelphia area for any "specialized" work beyond my substantial home-based capabilities.
My normal speaking voice is a somewhat deep soothing baritone well suited for narrations and/or instruction. My ability to switch character voices accurately & consistently makes audiobooks another strong area. My voice seems to reside in a frequency range unaffected by background music, load noise or sound effects. I drove racecars for Chrysler Corporation's Team Shelby in the eighties and am experienced in sports color commentary. I was the SCCA/IMSA track announcer at Pocono International Speedway. I have a background in the financial services industry (CFP), Series 6,7,24. I am a Vietnam Vet (Special Forces) and so I can relate well to financial and/or military subject material.
