Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I grew up a in Georgia, and can do number of variants of southern accent, and recognize that there is more than one. I speak rusty german and have the diction and pronunciation to do a german accent. I do a passable British accent that generally favors seedy characters over King Lear.

In multiple workshops I have been told I can exemplify the classic cartoon teenage boy. I usually respond by breaking out a raspy hard-drinking ruffian, of which I have several in the back pocket.

My Voice Experience

I began filling in on ad copy for a cable-based local advertising company I was doing production work for, and it was my foot in the door of the kind of work I had wanted to be a part of since I was 7 and recognized a common thread in several different cartoons.

When I moved to California, I began doing corporate and web based VO, as well as podcasting and attending workshops in the LA area. After a number of those I had built a network that got me several audiobook gigs, and an in at an agency that fields corporate, animation, video game, and commercial work. Since then I've done commercials, internal corporate videos, product announcement trailers, audiobooks, healthcare training program imaging and narration, and more.

My voice has been central to projects by Citrix, Equifax, and more.

My Training

I majored in journalism with a telecom production emphasis at the University of Georgia, which has access to production facilities onsite and a phenomenal relationship with CNN. I put myself through the last 2 years doing audio/video production. Since then I have brought in expertise in DVD mastering, music production, on-site camera work, and web and app design. I can provide full spectrum digital production services.

I have taken fantastic VO-specific workshops from Bill Farmer, Kevin Delaney, David Lawrence and Michael Cohen to name a few, and networked with many peers in the industry in finding more modern ways to improve a home studio and produce amazing results on a quick turnaround without burning through studio time.

As an A/V producer myself I try to reduce headaches for people just trying to get a project across the finish line, and have the expertise to do so.

My Studio Equipment

My home studio has dynamat sound isolation, a spider and gyro mount balanced Audio-Technica 2020 microphone, and a suite of displays and audio and video production software that makes being my own engineer viable. I use Astro A40 monitors to maximize isolation and pick up subtle nuance in production.

Additional Skills

I also work as a user experience designer, creating the look and feel and organization of mobile and desktop apps and websites. This is the result of a wide breath of production disciplines coming together, and knowing how to match audience expectations to best production practices. I also provide my own engineering and mastering services, and can produce projects start to finish, or any step in the middle that is needed.
