By the time I was in my twenties, (now 57!) not many days would go by before someone would aske me, "Have you done radio?" "Have you ever done commercials?" I was often compared to Barry White, the deceased R&B singer. So, I would respond by saying, "Who loves you baby," in a deep rich voice, and it would always draw laughter.
So, several years ago, I was in a public speaking engagement promoting chemical dependency treatment services, and a guy at a Lion's Club breakfast walked up to me at the end of my speaking, and he says, "HI, I'm Brian and I'd like your voice." I said, yeah, and laughed slightly, not knowing his intention. he said,"No, I mean, I want your voice. I'm looking for a deep male voice for one of my clients." Within a week I was in his studio producing a commercial for Merced Community Medical Center. I was working for Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock CA at the time. A year or two later I was aksed to write and produce two radio commercial for Emanuel. At anyrate, I'm think, with a little luck and timing, perhaps my time has come. It's worth a shot.
