To date I have recorded several audiobooks, provided the introduction for the Fanball Fantasy Football Podcast, and performed at a few speaking engagements.
As an English teacher, dramatic reading is simply part of my job. Thus, I have essentially been "performing" before small audiences for 20 years. In fact, my initial interest in the field of voice acting stemmed from a compliment delivered to me by a parent, a fellow English from another school district, who told her, "He makes the literature come alive." Though this praise has been impactful, the genuine tears shed by students in class as I read the final chapters in Of Mice and Men is even more indicative of the effectiveness of my narration.
In the fall of 2016 I began my training through Edge Studio, which I have subsequently completed. I am still receiving coaching, which all serious VO talent do throughout their careers.
I am currently recording in my home studio using an Audio Technica AT4050 microphone, Focusrite 2i2 interface, Beyerdynamic DT 770 headphones, with DAW choices of Reaper on a Mac Book Pro or Sound Forge 11 on a Dell laptop, and GLYPH external hard drives paired to each platform. Additional equipment includes KRK Rokit 6 monitors, and an AKG C214 and Blue Baby Bottle as backup microphones.
I have been teaching high school English for over 20 years. I am a practiced reader, capable of
providing character voices, sustained reads, various tones to match virtually any copy, and I take direction well.
Though capable of commercial, telephony, and other short recording styles, I specialize in long form narration, including: audiobooks, eLearning, documentaries, corporate training, and self-guided tours.
