Cara Jones is the voice of the GPS car navigation systems of the Jaguar, models of the Mercedes Benz, Land Rover, Cadillac, Ford, and Lincoln. Cara was the English-language announcer at the awards ceremonies of all outdoor games at the Winter Olympics at Nagano, broadcast around the world. She hosted a weekly radio series with Barry White, has voiced hundreds of TV commercials including spots for Toyota with Christian Slater, very successful ads for Shick, Canon, and a top jeans maker. She has voiced characters in million-selling Playstation and Sega games, such as Shenmue, Einhander, and Tekken 3. In addition, Cara spent 8 years as a prime-time English-language DJ on the #1 FM radio station in Tokyo, and much more. Working out of a commercial recording studio in Los Angeles equipped with phone patch for remote direction and full-time engineer, she is available for voice-over work around the world.
Cara began developing her signature, silky-sounding voice while at Harvard University. After completing a BA in Japanese, she signed up for the local radio station and spent three years DJ-ing in Cambridge while she finished her masters degree. She studied voice with Mark Baxter in Boston, and underwent serious on-the-job training during her nightly radio show in Tokyo - with a listenership in the millions - becoming one of the top English voices in Japan.
Cara co-owns a commercial music and voiceover studio in Los Angeles. The Pro-Tools audio suite is staffed with a full-time engineer, vintage and modern (Neumann) mics and pre-amps, dozens of instruments, and a soundproof acoustically-conditioned vocal booth. Designed by Nigel Martinez, the studio is available for commercial use and is a client-friendly facility.
EQUIPMENT INCLUDES: Pro Tools 10; Lynx Aurora converters; Vintec preamp; Neumann mics (our favorite being a 1960s Neumann CMV-563); a large variety of analog preamps, EQs and compressors; a soundproof and acoustically-treated booth.
