Voice Description

My "day voice," used for commercials and advertisements is best be described as young, warm and friendly. My favorite type of work is character work. For cartoon type characters I have a range from forest creatures and evil demons to quirky toddlers and cute critters. I can have a commanding yet not too stern voice if needed for things such as announcements at airports and safety announcements at factories.

My Voice Experience

Commercial: I have done a voice over for a major news network in Nebraska. While waiting tables at a Marriott restaurant I was approached by a co-workers husband who worked at the local media station to record a commercia. After we recorded a commercial where I had an on film, non-speaking role, he asked me to come in and record a voice over for a commercial in a Super hero type announcing voice.

P.S.A: I was a lead/host for the Department of Veteran's Affairs new ad campaign that launched 10/11/10. I recorded the A.D.R. for the commercial in a professional studio.

Movie: I went into a studio to record the A.D.R. and was asked by the Sound Engineer to stay after and help record a voice for a "Hills Have Eyes" type of creature. It was there that we decided to schedule time to start recording commercial and character voices for a demo.

Short Film: While being a military consultant for a University of Southern California
student's short film about a Marine returning home from Iraq, the director asked me to record the voice over for the Marine Sergeant that calls the main character to announce that he's going back to war.

My Training

My training has been mainly that of spare time while on deployment to Iraq with the Marines in 2007. I have been doing impersonations for friends for years, and have been often told that I should pursue it as a career.

I moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and voice over in April of 2010. I have been taking Improvisation classes at the Groundlings Theatre and School. I am currently in the Intermediate level and am enjoying every minute of it!

I have been taking a scene study class with David Dean Bottrell, an established and successful actor/writer.

I will be taking voice over classes as well. I have been looking for well recommended place of training, and have found Kalmeson and Kalmeson to be the most reputable so far. However, it is very expensive and I would like more confirmation from the professionals who are casting voice over work. I am definitely more than willing to put in the time to train, and love to explore new heights/depths of my voice and what characters that I can come up with.

My Studio Equipment

I currently have at home a "Blue Snowball™" USB Microphone and Apple's "Garage Band" editing software. I would like to soon purchase a library of sound effects and music. I also have a professional recording studio that I have established a good relationship with that rents booth time and editing by the hour.

Free samples from my USB mic to establish a character are available. If a studio is required but not provided or recommended by those needing my services I will rent the studio and, if needed, the editing time. I will include the studio costs in my estimates.

Additional Skills

I would say that my improvisation skills that I have learned and am always still learning through the Groundlings School and Theatre are a great asset to compliment my voice work. Also the acting classes that I am taking with David Dean Bottrell provide a nice addition to the emotional aspects of voice acting.
