Smart, Warm, Kind, Teacher, Professional, Seasoned
My style evolved from several years' experience in public radio. In those years, my style was that of a very conversational classical music announcer. Never a pontificator, my vocal style carries a message home in a comfortable and engaging way.
My documentary narrations are strong because I love to tell a story that has nuanced meaning and gravity for both the listener and producer. Similarly, presentations need a voice that sounds authoritative and interesting to hold a listener/viewer's attention.
My game show persona loves to go "over the top" with exaggerated cadences.
As a teacher, I excel in providing narrations for training and educational projects. Teaching requires a trained voice for delivering essential and useful information while maintaining a hint of personality.

My Voice Experience
I worked as a classical music radio host for several years. This position afforded me to be on Georgia Public Television as a narrator for locally produced television programs and promotional spots that were aired locally and nationally.
As an intern at Creative Video in the early 1990s, my voice was used on commercial projects, primarily for the role of the seasoned veteran news anchor voiceover.
Public broadcasting exposure offered me more opportunities as an pre-recorded announcer for renown musical performance venue, Spivey Hall.
I narrated for a documentary on the history of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta. This documentary was issued on DVD to be locally distributed.
My training has been through the process of learning through doing. I have been very fortunate in that I have been able to learn from others who are veterans in this industry. I have taught others, as well. Teaching is a great education in itself.
My educational background is in fine arts, as an alumnus of the University of Georgia (1991). I am preparing to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching program at Georgia State University in the social sciences. My original teaching certificate is in Broadcast and Video Production.
Over the past five years, my technical knowledge and broadcast experience have helped high school students complete multimedia projects to satisfy course requirements. I have also used this experience to produce educational materials for use in the social science courses at the secondary educational level.
I have recently been working with a friend and former public broadcasting colleague, Brian Smith, to produce voiceovers for Pro Voice Tracks.
My Studio Equipment
I use a MacBook running OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. I use three audio production programs: Ocen Audio for fast and easy recording and editing; Garage Band for some of its filters and built-in sounds, and; Adobe Audition CS6 as a sophisticated multitrack editor and audio sweetener.
My primary microphone is a Samson C03U USB mic that connects via a Monster heavy USB cable with gold connectors. To complete the rig are an Onstage microphone stand and a popper stopper.
I enjoy being challenged to try new material and new roles. I am a former woodworker. I am a student of science, mathematics and economics. I also speak French proficiently.
As a former classical music announcer, I retain the necessary ability to pronounce multisyllabic names and difficult vowel and consonant combinations that frequently flummox native English speakers. Among the social sciences, I have taught American History, Government and Economics. Among others that I have been called to teach are Algebra, Trigonometry, Physics and French. Vocabulary terms related to each subject are very familiar to me.
