My Voice Experience

Due to a traumatic event as a kid, I lost my voice for two years. To overcome my speech impediment, I spoke into a tape recorder daily. Hearing my voice played back on a recorder trained my voice and ear. I developed a remarkable sensitivity and an impeccable memory for a variety of voices and sounds. When my voice finally returned, I used this talent to entertain myself and my friends. I studied acting in high school and traveled with a show on weekends. I also studied singing and voice, developing a significant vocal range. I studied radio and voice at the Announcer Training School in New York City. I did voice overs for Youth Education, Inc., Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Club of America, Hardee’s® Restaurant, Boy Scouts of America, and The Salvation Army among others. I hosted "Cityscape" a weekly program on WFUV–FM, New York, did the voice over for the documentary (pilot) "Who Killed Vincent Chin?" (which, in its final version, earned an Academy Award in the “Best Documentary” category). I've done voice overs for many other video projects through Faithworks. I've also performed in the United States and overseas at live events as master of ceremonies and as a solo singer.
Book trailer voiceovers for The Salvation Army and for Mignon Communications, LLC, New York. As an author of four books, I've been interviewed on several radio stations nationwide, including WOR News Talk Radio 710 HD, 1190AM WLIB (now WBLS–HD2 – WLIB 107.5 FM) in New York City; and WPEB 88.1 FM in West Philadelphia.

Studied drama and script writing at John Adams High School, Cleveland, Ohio
(Acted in "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Up the Down Staircase," "Julius Caesar," "If Men Played Cards as Women Do," "Androcles and the Lion.")

Wrote, directed, and acted in the film "The Sniper" a Columbine High School–like tale about the consequences of bullying. The film, produced by Karamu House, aired on TV in Cleveland.

Wrote and directed the three–act play "Papa had a bad Night," a comedy about an elderly man's failed attempt to trick his wife, relatives, and friends into preparing him an expensive gourmet meal.

I've attended classes, workshops, and seminars on performing voiceovers. I've served as the master of ceremonies at numerous live events. I've performed for more than 20 years as a solo singer. And I've narrated several personalized video projects. I've also been employed for many years as a journalist and I've traveled to Russia, Europe, and to many African nations including Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa (where I've been guest singer or speaker).
