My Voice Experience

A friend and I wanted to record something for a project and it was decided that I should do it, since I have a more pleasant voice. After recording the first paragraph, both the sound engineer and my friend were sitting in the booth with this totally stunned look on their faces--they were blown away by the sound of my voice.
After four hours of recording, the engineer said he had never done a session with so few takes or edits, and that I should definitely look into a career in voice overs and narration.
That was my first job and I will do the recording for the next phase of our project as well.
Then I decided to follow up on that suggestion and cut a VO demo in my town at Palace Studios. We finished the CD (5 minutes with some music) in 3 hours. I loved doing it. The engineer said he had never completed on so quickly.
So, I have decided to embark on a new career!

My Training

Middlebury College, B.A. German,
Private Translation and Interpreting School in Munich, Institut Francais in Munich.

I don't have any training in voiceovers but I have been speaking foreign languages since I was 4 (Taiwanese) and then later from my 20's onward (Spanish, French, German, Italian). I lived in Europe for 17 years, am a ATA certified translator (German) and worked in international sales for 16 years.

Only general studies in the performing arts (ballet, modern dance and jazz), played the flute in high school.

My Studio Equipment

I have just started so I don't have a studio yet but am in the process of building one.

Additional Skills

I have a very good ear for the spoken word, hence the foreign languages with no American accent, and I am very well read. My main preferences are modern American literature, 19th century and modern English literature, and psychology.

I have translated texts from commercials, patent specifications, annual reports to court transcripts that read like a spy novel.
