My Voice Experience

This is my first foray into the voiceover field. But I've been speaking in front of people, on a stage, a podium, in a classroom, in a circle, for donkey's years. That's because I'm a teacher, preacher, compere, and presentation specialist.

Back in 1985, I was a student intern at the First Unitarian Church of Madison, Wisconsin. I used to preach from the pulpit to a congregation of around 500 people, and on two occasions my sermons were recorded and broadcast by Madison Public Radio.

As a student of ministry during 1984-1988,I have preached fromthe pulpits of many Unitarian Universalist churches in the US, mainly in the midwest; and also in the UK and Netherlands.

In Kolkata, I've worked as the Director of the Fulbright Commission, which is a division of the United States Consulate. In that capacity I did oral presentations on higher education in the US thrice a week, lacing the information with humor and wit. Students and parents loved my presentations.

In that capacity, I've recorded on several occasions at TV stations in Kolkata, and appeared on live talk shows several times.

In my present job as a Cultural Specialist with the US Consulate, I routinely introduce programs, moderate sessions, and give concluding remarks.

My Training

Doctor of Ministry (DMin), 1988, Meadville/Lombard Theological School (University of Chicago) - 2 semesters of Arts of Ministry covering techniques of voice, pitch, content, modulation, oration, etc.

Two semesters of internship at First Unitarian Church of Madison, Wisconsin, where I learned to hone my skills in pulpit preaching.

My Studio Equipment

I don't have a studio, but there are several good studios in Kolkata. I once produced a video on the SAT, GRE and GMAT, for which I supervised the voiceover recording at a studio, so I've seen how recordings are done and edited.
