Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
French accent, Spanish accent, German accent, Russian accent, Italian accent, British accent. I do a W.C. Fields impression for nostalgia commercials. I often tied novelty commercials to current events as when Kruschev banged his shoe on the table at the United Nations. Banged my shoe and did a Russian accent.
I am quite fluent in French and next best is my North American Spanish. I did the news in Spanish at KNOT Radio many years ago in Prescott, Arizona.
I was out of the business for a good long time, but one audition will show you there's no rust on my vocal cords.
My Voice Experience
It has been a long time since I did any announcing. Nonetheless I can sit down and do a job as if I had 100 years experience at it. One either "has it" or he does not. I do. I'm a "natural" with my voice work. People were always pleasantly surprised because I always came out at the right point on the clock on the timing of my work and I usually did it right the first time...."one take Stan," they called me.
I have a B.A. degree in Radio-TV journalism with speech as a major, Spanish as a minor. Later in my life I obtained a Master's and later a Ph.D. in psychology. I practiced for a short time and then got into the phone business. I did quite a bit of "on hold" announcing. I am pretty much a stickler on grammar. I will not put my voice on media with grammatical errors unless such are necessary to portray an ignorant person....if sentences are clumsily constructed, I may offer less confusing alternatives-but won't insist on them. My mother was an English teacher---'nuff said.
My Studio Equipment
I have no studio equipment. I will require my employer to furnish the studio.
I am currently retired, so my schedule is pretty much open.
I am a team player and show up on time.
