My Voice Experience

I started in radio back in 2002. After finishing the course I ended up getting my own breakfast show at a small local radio station in Nelson New Zealand, I was 19 at the time and believe you me, back then it was a big deal.

I worked in the industry as a radio announcer till the end of 2005 voicing various projects, work related and personal.

Got involved in a few independent local films during this time creating sounds-capes, playing around with sfx and providing my voice where it was needed. I spent nights impersonating different people I had met at work or where-ever, often recording short gags from home and later playing them to friends/family ending the night in tears of laughter. I realized "I can't be that bad".

Having experienced the joy's of "sound" I wanted more.

In 2006 I started my bachelor in television/communication, mainly concentrating on sound design. After successfully completing this I worked at Canterbury's Television doing various jobs including "station voice" which I thoroughly enjoyed.
They also ended up using my voice for the Canterbury Business Awards in 2009.

I got itchy feet, met a german bird and decided to live in Switzerland for 1 1/2 where I unsuccessfully tried to find voice-work. When I came back to New Zealand in 2011, a year later, a Swiss voice agency I had handed my voice-reel into, offered me a rather lucrative telecom gag, voiced in German, which I sadly for obvious reasons had to turn down. I was gutted. Yet it proved to me like it had in the past, those many years back "I can't be that bad". So I've never given up!

Since then I have voiced a number of personal projects for small/medium sized businesses and in a tiny place like Blenheim NZ, voice-over jobs are far and wide.

Voice-overs are generally speaking not something you can pay your mortgage with but I see it as a hobby, a bit of fun and something that I very much enjoy. Something I am really good at and passionate about.

So here I am delving into the cyber world, getting myself out there amongst all those other hopefuls.
