a smooth, soft, and calming mid range voice
My voice is a soft mid-range male voice. I have an excellent range for low key, warm voiced, kinds of recordings as well as projects requiring a wide range of expression. I am very used to reciting poetry and make natural transitions from one tone to another depending on the narrative circumstances. Though my natural tone is soft and warm, I have done and can convincingly do intense loud and/or disturbed voices as well.
My natural accent is an east Prince Edward Island accent, which is a slightly lyrical english tone that is similar to, but much milder than, the Irish accent. Most of the time I speak in a regular english accent but I grew up using a slight accent. I can very easily run with lyrical kinds of readings given that my natural accent is a bit lyrical.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I have not performed in accents before but could probably be good for Irish, English, Australian, and New Zealand accents.
I have not done, but could do, impersonations or characters, mostly what I do is narrative. I would make for a good dead pan character, and also a good friendly character. I think I'd make for a good stoner voice too.
My Voice Experience
For my Melodies in Mind intro I used a warm and welcoming voice that was recorded over 'la,la,lalala' segments of the Chumbawamba song, 'Smith and Taylor' This runs every single episode of Melodies in Mind Tuesdays from 8 to 10pm on CJSF 90.1FM.
For my Sustainable Futures intro I used more of a sharp motivational tone to inspire the listeners and get them excited about the show and the future. This was recorded over an organic sounding song by the Australian band Rivertribe. This runs every episode of Sustainable Futures Fridays from 3 to 4 PM.
For my poem 'Healthy Hearts' I used an intimate romantic voice that is directed at an intimate other up until the last two stanzas which are written towards a general audience with philosophical statements. This is on my poetry EP 'Living With Emotion', it was enhanced by an old time radio static background that gave it a bit of a timeless feel.
On the same album is the poetic piece 'Damn Romance!' Which is a good example of my dramatic voice. It's an over the top intensely distraught voice that is run over street sound effects. It's one of my favorite works, I had to really get into it to make it so good as it is. I was working with the producer Rob Fillo; we had a lot of fun with the humor too.
'Where I'll roam' is a poem about a hitchhiking drifter that I used more of a sombre voice for. I think it is very effective. It's was made for an ESL (English Second Language) project, and may be released in another one of my albums over the next couple of years.
My training is in radio and poetic delivery. I also have taken a couple months of private voice coaching lessons.
My radio djing experience is 9 years, and my poetry performance is 4. All of my training is hands on.
I have also worked with other voices in the production of comedy's I have written. I am a trained listener as well.
I have also produced, edited, and narrated a documentary about Paranormal Investigators.
For more information you can contact me directly because my list of projects is quite long.
My Studio Equipment
I have no studio of my own but am quite an experienced audio engineer. I work out of CSJF 90.1 FM in Burnaby. My knowledge is more in the realm of the performance end of audio engineering than the technical but I have picked up on a few technical things over the years. I am very familiar with recording techniques for bigger projects that involve a lot of takes.
I usually work with Sound Forge, but have also used Audacity and Pro Tools.
I have regularly done public speaking over various jobs in the past. I am employed by an interactive museum that has me engaging visitors in conversations about history. I am very aware of the tone and temperment in my voice which has been a real asset for this.
I have been a tour guide for the 'Harbor Hippo' tours in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. They take place on a travelling Land and Sea vehicle and convey information about Charlottetown to tourists.
These days I often mc and host music shows around Vancouver and I sometimes get the priviledge to be speaking to large audiences about community radio.
