My Voice Experience

An experienced news reader since my college days in the 70s, I currently sing with a big band and emcee its weekly performances and DJ a weekly radio show on KSDS-FM ( of big band music. In 1997 I became the studio announcer for UCSD-TV ( and as a result have a wide experience in unusual pronunciations and narrative expertise. My public relations and marketing career has led to many narrative and copy-writing tasks, so that I bring flexibility and creativity to voiceover work as well as an ability to respond to direction.

Yale University, BA in Economics, class of 1980. Radio news reporter, 1980-81 and 1996-97. Studio Announcer UCSD-TV 1997-present. Big Band Brunch on KSDS-FM 2004-present. Shure VP64 mic connected to Eurorack MX 602A mixer that feeds a PC computer enabling me to make .wav files using the CreativeWaveStudio software program.

Additional Skills

I am an amateur expert on local history and the music of the big bands. I am a general student of American and world history as well, with focus on the 20th century, and follow current events with special interest in economics, ecology, and the fine arts. Historic preservation is a special interest, extending to the creation of neighborhood walking tours to explore the history and architecture of San Diego. On a routine basis I write news coverage and develop marketing support for local non-profit agencies.
