I regularly teach voice/speech classes, training students to use the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) as a tool for dialect work. In the last two years I have taught "BBC English (Received Pronunciation), Plantation Southern, Donegal Irish, Cockney and Brooklyn/North Jersey to my students. I regularly use the International Dialects of English Archive (IDEA) which is the best archive of primary dialect source I have found.
