My Voice Experience
Professionally, I have many credits. Some highlights are:
Narration for an hour-long pilot episode of a military history docudrama for Marker Entertainment called "Air Force Elite."
Narration for a full-length, behind-the-scenes documentary about the Sullivan Brothers' independent film, "I'll Believe You." The documentary won an award at the Toronto Film Festival.
Read two children's books for The Reading Rainbow's new tablet app. The books were "Moose on the Loose" and "Out Like a Lion, in Like a Lamb."
I voiced the evil Emperor Berrrg for a webisode series promoting the DaGeDar racetrack game. That was fun.
I've done narration for industrials and websites, including Mothership Creative and DotNetNuke.
I was the voice for an in-house promo for the videogame NBA 2K Play.
I sang an impersonation of School House Rock singer Jack Sheldon for an in-house Farmer's Insurance video, which won an award. I've also impersonated David Attenborough (the narrator of Planet Earth) for a political ad. I enjoy doing impersonations, and in both cases, I'd never done those guys before, so if you need an impersonation of anybody, try me!
And more, and more...
Before and after attaining a Bachelor's Degree in Theater from UC Santa Cruz I have years and years of experience in all kinds of Theater, from the dramatic and the comic to the Shakespearean, from professional to extremely amateur. I have performed most recently with L.A.'s underground comedy troupe The Ministers of Unknown Science, and can be seen in many of their video sketches.
I have completed classes with MJ Lallo in both Commercial and Character voiceover.
I worked for 5 years at an audio post-production house for film and TV, where I learned the basics of editing and recording in ProTools from professionals.
I have taken singing lessons in pop and operatic at Oberlin College. I have sung and played bass in bands, and I play guitar.
My Studio Equipment
I have at all times:
Apple MacMini with ProTools installed (using an M-Audio FastTrack C400 as interface)
A high-end Rode microphone, the Rode K2, in an insulated professional home studio.
With this equipment I can produce high-quality audio for your project, and email you an mp3 or a .wav file (or any format, really), or I can upload files to an FTP.
Or I can set up a session with any of several local studios where I have contacts, but that involves studio rental, usually around $100 an hour.
I worked for a studio-level film and television audio post-production facility for 5 years, where I learned ProTools from industry professionals. I can edit files, add music and effects, sweeten audio, whatever you need. Anything beyond basic editing will require additional fees, however.
I have professional copy-editing experience, as well as a background in creative writing, both my own and with a group. My English skills are very strong, and I have a great sense of good flow in written copy. I also read and speak German at an intermediate to advanced level of proficiency.
I have a strong knowledge of literary and dramatic history, including Shakespeare as well as opera, and a working knowledge of contemporary popular culture.
Almost every day someone tells me I have a great, soothing voice or that I should be on the radio. Let me help you make your project shine.
