Relaxed, news, authoratative
I have a relaxed UK English voice with no particular accent. As an ex-BBC radio presenter and journalist I developed a voice to suit a variety of situations and occasions. Factual projects suit my style best: I do not do comedy voices, but I can provide a warmth to your factual project needs. Although I am used to straight forward, authoritative news presentation, my programme presentation experience over many years gave me a parallel conversational approach suited to documentary, presentation and video projects.

My Voice Experience
Here is the news...for 20 years or so.
I was a BBC radio producer and broadcast journalist, reading and writing news bulletins, presenting programmes, feature production, edit and mix , live OBs - in fact everything a typical BBC local radio producer was expected to do - and more!
So facts and speech-based radio is how I learnt my craft, with a very discerning audience, every day of the week at all times of the day and night.
Since I left; documentaries, video voice overs, presentations, phone holding messages, just please don't ask me to be Mr Zany. Try as I may, my voice won't go that way, and I would rather provide you with a voice that matches the image you want to create with your project.
A long career in BBC radio/television
Guest lecturer in media production at a UK university
Head of radio at a UK college
My Studio Equipment
I have access to a studio.
Soundcraft RM105 desk
3 rack mounted Sony CD players
3 rack mounted Sony minidisc machines
3 Sony studio mics
Adobe Audition 1.5
BeyerDynamic M58 hand held dynamic reporter microphone
Altec Lansing monitors
HP laptop with Adobe Audition 3/Audacity
I spent a career talking to an audience that could switch off if it didn't like what it heard - so I made sure they did like me and what I had to say. Words tell the story and sounds sell the story, so production is significant in creating the image you wish to create. You must feel confident that the voice you choose is right for projecting the image you need for your project. I don't do million-miles-an-hour commercials because I know that project doesn't suit my voice. My style is relaxed authoritative and conversational - a cause I championed in my most recent book 'Sounds Like a Good Idea' aimed at the educational sector.
