Smooth, Warm, Energetic, Fun and Sassy!
I have years of experience as a professional actress, so I like to find the character in a script and have fun and make it believable to the listener. I can be warm and engaging for a narration, or I can be bubbly, sexy and energetic for a commercial--depending on the product being sold. My voice has been described as having a youthful and fun sounding quality to it as well!

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I like to do an Irish dialect and usually put it on when I am around my Irish family members--this accent could be great for a commercial, or for a narration which includes an Irish character. I also know a few choice Gaelic words. I can do a British dialect, which could be great for commercials, and for 'proper' sounding dialogue or narrative. Going to college in the south, I also picked up and studied the American Southern dialect. I can do several variations of it, sounding like a 'hick' or a 'southern belle' depending on the project. I can also do a French accent. I have been working on this one to perfect it; and although I do not speak French fluently, I can do the "I used to live in France but now do not" type dialect. My friends say I am good with picking up people's voices and speech patterns and I do like to do 'impersonations'! Right now I do not have any one in particular, but perhaps soon I will!
My Voice Experience
I am very 'green' in the Voice Over business, to be quite frank! I went to college for music theater and since then have been working as an actress regionally and in and around NYC for a few years. I did a production last fall of a new musical and a talented Broadway veteran actor kept telling me that he thought I had a "great voice" and I should try voice overs...and so I listened to Mr. Zimmerman, took a great class and now have my demo! Looking back on my days as a Jersey youngster, I loved impersonating my school teachers and speaking like Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind". I just like talking, I suppose, and finding the uniqueness in my own voice is fun, just as it is in finding the uniqueness in any person or character! And although I do not have any previous body of work in Voice Overs to post here; I believe that you have to start somewhere...and therefore, I have my demo and I have my acting career and training to support and back me up! Thank you for reading and I hope that my voice type is one that might be of use! :)
I have a BFA in Music Theater from Elon University of NC. I studied Drama, the interpretation of songs and scripts, Music, Voice and Dance. I have a strong musical background, but also strong speech and dialect skills through study and courses taken in school as well as outside of school. I have studied acting in NYC with playwright Glenn Alterman and also in college with Fred Rubeck. I have studied semesters in Spanish as well as Italian and although cannot speak these languages completely fluently, I can pick up the accents fairly well. I took my first Voice Over class with Voice Over artist and teacher, Aria McKenna. She was great and has been a wealth of information in starting my career!
My Studio Equipment
Being new to this career, I am still learning about microphone equipment and studio engineering. Living in NYC, I do have easy access to a wide range of studios that I can get to and have a professional engineer help me edit my voice over assignment. I recorded my demo at Steamroom Studios in Union Square, NYC. The studio provided a full sound-proof recording booth and the engineer edited and added music to the background of each script from his computer. Through my Voice Over coach, Aria McKenna, I also have a contact at Sadler Studios, of Manhattan.
I am a bookworm and love books! I am basically a book "nerd", to be honest, and enjoy reading anything and everything. I tend to get very into whatever I am reading at the moment, and become absorbed in the story, plot and characters. I suppose this is because I am an actress and so I do get emotionally connected easily to the thoughts of the protagonist or the antagonist. I think that this could help me with voice overs though, because I like telling stories as well as reading them. I think that 'stories' are what we as human beings all strive for, really. That is why commercials, industrial, radio spots, TV advertisements and narrations exist! They all get the listener and the audience hooked on the 'story' of the moment, whether it be a hair product or the new waffle bacon egg sandwich at 'dunkin donuts'! I really love that about voice overs---they make the listener feel that the artist is directly speaking to him or her. I think you need to have an understanding of the importance of what you are speaking about and being an actress, I believe I could execute this well...no matter what the product or intention.
