Mature, friendly, real, deep, folksy, Cajun and
Punctuate. Resonate. Reverberate.
VOice Acting is what I do.
On the Outdoor Channel, I am the announcer for Wild Game Nation.
The rest of the time I'm doing believable commercials and audio books and narration and crazy characters for zany script writers
I do FRIENDLY, REAL voices including some very trusting mature voices, guy next door stuff and some extremely colorful treatments that have earned me the name CrayonMouth.
I create memorable deliveries by finding a cadence and tone that stands apart from the crowd. I'm good on comedy, humor and wacky voices like the Family Guy Characters or Squidbillies.
My BREAD & BUTTER Voice is a folksy, guttural, story telling voice that will remind of you a man smoking a pipe setting in a easy chair telling a story to his grand kids, or a cattle boss reminising around the campfire with a bunch of cowboys.
But, that's not all I am.
I can get classy. Sophisticated. Homespun. Corn Pone. Romantic. Hard Sell. Soft Sell. Drill Sergeant. Cowboy. King George. Cool Cat. And outright NUTZ!

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
CrayonMouth: That is the brand name for my voice talent and should give you an pretty good clue that I mix it up quite colorfully.
I do pretty damn good Johnny Cash, John Wayne or Rod Serling.
CrayonMouth means I delivery a variety of winning voices in shades from royal purple to code blue. From Kingly to Saintly, from Kindly to Sinister. And all the shades in between!
You will find me a capable of performing a variety of accents including a bit of a Brit, A Scottsman, American India, Mob Boss, Farm Boy, Gay Fellow, Sea Faring New Englander, Cajun Swamp Rat, Southern Gentleman, Game Show Voice, Sports Caster. And more.
One of my favorite voices is the VOICE OF THE CRUMPLED PAPER BAG.
It's kind of a sleepy, timid little voice that you just can't help but feel close to. IT'S ON MY DEMO REEL.
As a performer of Children's Music as well I have animated many animal voices through the years. My GRUFF AND GRIZZLY bear is a classic favorite. But I love the challenge of animating inanimate objects, also; Had the chance to be briefcase once and loved it. So did the creative director.
I guess I am cross between a back woods fisherman and a symphony orchestra conductor, if you get my drift.
My Voice Experience
I spent over 25 years writing award winning advertising copy as a staff writer and a freelancer and cannot tell you how many times through the years clients would come up to me after spot was recorded and say: "You know, I really like the way the spot sounded better when you originally read it in the presentation. I wish we would have let you do the recording." (me too)
So, more and more I started doing the actual recording of many of the spots I wrote and produced. Mostly, this is because I can make words connect...connect to the human psyche...connect to the heart...connect to the soul and the mind and the ego and the libido...and so on.
Here are some clients who have made successful use of my colorful writing and voice talent skills:
Wild Game Nation Realtiy Hunting Show
Earl Scruggs Museum
Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Baily Circus
Ice Follies and Holiday On Ice
El Chico Restaurants
Gettysburg National Battlefield Recorded Tours
Parisian's Department Stores
Pamela Gene Clothiers
The Nashville Now Show on TNN
Cellular One Phone Service
H. L. Franklin's
Monroe Community College
Mr. Gatti's Pizza
Po Folks Restaurants
For over 25 years I have been writing commercials that get people's attention. As often as not, clients would request that I perform the voice over for the spots as well since they like they way I read the script for presentation. SO, I started doing more and more voice work and decided that my colorful range of deliveries and natural ability to make a messsage STICK was my true calling...and true color. Today, I devote my time and energy to doing voice acting on a full time basis....and love every minute of it.
HERE'S A BIT MORE ABOUT MY BACKGROUND
A graduate of Middle Tennessee University Class of 1977.
Bachelor's of Science in Mass Communications from the Advertising and Public Relations Sequence. Cum Laude.
Wrote bit and comedy skits for The Nashville Now Music and Variety Show on the The Nashville Network.
Wrote, Sang and Produced two popular children's albumns for an independent label.
Sang a duet with recording artist Lorrie Morgan on a celebrity compilation CD called "Friends For Life" to benefit Save The Children.
My Studio Equipment
My home studio features Pro Tools with a AKG Perception 220 Mike and a small custom sound booth.
My neighbor also has a great in home recording studio for music sessions and has a greater range of pre-amped microphones and mixing capabilities where we can create custom music and set up for multi-talent spots featuring more than one voice if necessary.
Finally, my jingle production partner has a full 24 track record quality studio for projects on a grander scale.
* Nashville's two premier spot studios are also just a short drive away. SO, one way or another, I've got your studio covered...whatever your recording project might require.
My passion for writing, producing and voice acting consumes most of my time, and when I am not producing jingles with my famous country music celebrity sister, Lorrie Morgan in my other business venture or doing a million and one voices for companies like yours, chances are, I'm fishing, floating down a Tennessee river in my trusty canoe or writing a song....basically trying to keep it colorful. That's me.
I am an avid fan of the theater of the mind. And I believe there is not enough GREAT RADIO being written in that vein.
When was the last time your radio commercial featured a two story bowling ball bounding down you street at 30 miles an hour?
That said, I would love to blow you out of the water with some original radio ideas that help you stand apart from the plethora of mediocrity that fills our airwaves. And maybe even get to be the voice in the spot.
My script writing skills for radio commercials have created super successful spots and campaigns for clients for over 25 years. And I have the awards to prove it. It is what I am really great at AND what I love to do.
I spent almost 15 years as a National Marketing Director for a national consumer brand so I understand business basics as well as the artistic life.
