I have played a variety of action heroes in sci-fi and old time pulp radio settings and am noted for impersonations of Roddy McDowell, John Huston, Jack Nicholson, Sean Connery, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christopher Lee, Patrick Stewart, Brian Blessed, John Rhys Davies, Ewan MacGregor (as Alec Guinness), Tom Baker & Kurt Russell.

My characters include *but are not limited to* Italian/American gangsters, noir detectives, snooty Englishmen, various fantasy characters (sorcerers, barbarians, etc.), surfer dudes, anime characters, action heroes, grizzled ex-soldiers, regular Joes, cowboys, fanboys, mysterious enigmatic characters, punk rockers, small town sheriffs, assorted aliens and supernatural creatures.

My Voice Experience

I was a teacher and corporate trainer for a few years early in my career, which is where my public speaking skills came into play. But most of my voice work has been for a number of popular podcast audio groups, such as: BrokenSea Audio Productions, Darker Projects, Circus-13 Productions, Phantom Frame/Westlake Films (UK), Imagination Lane and I typically play characters in assorted genres of audio drama but have also performed dramatic readings of classic authors like H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard and Edgar Allen Poe.

Several of the original shows I've starred or co-starred in (Jake Sampson: Monster Hunter, Feedback -- A Hero's Calling, Maudelayne and Ulysses: Intergalactic Guides and Bounties Inc.) have won runner-up status at the annual Parsec Awards held at the DragonCon convention over the past two years. My current portrayal of iconic British sci-fi hero, Doctor Who, has received rave reviews and regularly attracts thousands of downloads via website and iTunes each month. One of my largest roles was as working-class Englishman Carl Henshawe in the audio adaptation of Robert Moody's zombie novel, Autumn (slated for release in June 2009 as a motion picture co-starring David Carradine). In 2011, my portrayal of Dr. Who in a fan-fiction audio show by BrokenSea Audio Productions helped land the prestigious Sir Julius Vogel Award for Best Fan Production.

A play I wrote called Black List was produced by Darker Projects and played on Sirius/XM radio via Colonial Radio Theater, with whom I also have affiliations. I also partnered with noted author Norman Spinrad to produce a short play of his called Voice Over, in which I also starred as a radio show host.

I recently completed my first professional audio book (Kolchak: The Night Stalker - A Black & Evil Truth) for noted comic book publisher, Moonstone Books and am awaiting word about its launch date.

My Training

I received a bachelor's degree in English literature from John Carroll University in Ohio in 1990 and followed it in 1992 with a master's degree in writing from DePaul University in Chicago. Prior to my years doing "stand-up teaching & training" most of my acting had been limited to school plays. However, my years performing numerous roles for podcast has given me tremendous amounts of practice performing various characters, and even a fair number of (dare I say?) fan mail.

My Studio Equipment

Typically my colleagues at the various audio groups with whom I work handle post-production. I typically just e-mail them my lines.

Additional Skills

I am told there are two things I am very good at: writing and voice work, and I am passionate about both. However, these days it is becoming increasingly difficult to find steady work as an on-staff writer in the corporate world. Thus I have decided to take the advice many friends and colleagues and try to reinvent myself as a professional voice actor. I would love to one day perform voice overs for commercials, documentaries or animated films and TV shows, but I wouldn't say no to recording audiobooks or descriptive film tracks for the blind either.
