I worked in the Fashion biz while studying improvisational theater and comedy. I am one of the lucky types who met someone on the phone who said... you have a great voice! You should do Voiceover! What?!?!
So I jumped in to classes almost 18 years ago and began to study acting as well. My improv background was HUGELY beneficial... and my timing was good! Not everyone in the world knew about v.o.at the time. I was fortunate to get a really good agent right away...
I have studied with lots of great people.
Here's a list:
Charlie Adler & Kris Zimmerman (animation)
Ginny McSwain (animation)
Joyce Castellanos (promo)
Jodi Gottlieb (promo)
Cathy Kalmenson (commercial)
Bill Holmes the Voice Doctor(commercial)
Carroll Kimball (commercial)
Martha Mayakis (commercial)
Phyllis Katz (song improv)
Los Angeles TheatreSports (aka Impro Theatre) (company member and event producer)

I have also played guitar for -- well a very long time! Since I was 14.
My Studio Equipment
I have access to ISDN. As well as several larger studios near my home. Voice Trax West or Talk Shop.
Home studio includes Garage Band on MacBook Pro with a Yeti mic by Blue.
I know how to "read the room". I can get the job done swiftly and precisely. I take direction well -- I am only interested in helping client find a solution and give them what they want. I love to chat but i know when to stop.
Here are some things about me that have supported my unique and diverse skills in this biz:
All of them required creativity and social skills
Jobs other than acting --painter, picture framer, personnel manager at a big fashion company, design assistant, theater producer and publicist.... guitar player and singer...
all this lead me to...
Voice Over! My most favorite profession.
