Additional Skills

Out of University and straight into show business, Liesl has focused on creating new scripts. Things really began when she won the 1996 Jessie Richardson Award for Outstanding Direction for Daniel MacIvor’s House. As a dramaturg/director, her plays have been nominated for six other Jessie Awards. In 2000, Liesl made her Arts Club Theatre directorial debut with their critically acclaimed production of A Town Called Hockey, which she also co-wrote. In three years as Artistic Director of Theatre Terrific Society, she invented an environment for actors with disabilities to perform original works. In 2005, Liesl moved to Winnipeg and became a play reader for the Manitoba Theatre Centre and a dramaturg for the Aboriginal Arts Centre and the Manitoba Theatre for Young People.
