Kim Ramirez

Inviting, sweet female voice

Voice Description

Warm and meaningful for narrations; Sexy and playful for commercials; Articulate and professional for presentations and instructional material. Also, for those projects that call for an authentic Texas twang-I am available. I didn't realize I possessed a Texas twang until I some "non-Texans" played 20 questions with me just to hear me talk. But don't worry, my Texas twang can be controlled as to not appear as a Texas cowgirl who rides a horse and lacks an education.

My Voice Experience

Initially, I was not seeking a career in voice over. Journalism has always been my thing. But, more on the writing side. While going to school, I worked as a receptionist for a law firm. It was there that I had several employees(lawyers)tell me that clients would always comment on what a beautiful, warm and articulate voice I had. This job turned into meeting with clients in person and via telephone for their initial consultation. I can speak, read and understand Spanish, just not fluently. Since I can read Spanish, I was able to conduct Spanish interviews. My bosses were impressed because I could jump back and forth between American English accent to Spanish accent. I was then given the job of voice for voicemail boxes, company greeting, all other voice activated machines at firm.

My Training

I did not graduate from college, but I was working on journalism degree. In high school the journalism class was selected by faculty because there could only be so many in the class. At the time, I was suffering from a temporary case of low self-esteem and didn't sign up to be considered. It was an honor, surprise and blessing when I found out I was secretly nominated to be in the journalism class by two teachers based on my English grades and writings. I am currently enrolling in additional workshops and other continuing education since I have since decided I would like to pursue more in the voice over industry.

My Studio Equipment

Additional Skills

I am a reliable, confident, middle-aged female who loves life. I have been told by my family that once I learned how to talk, I haven't stopped since. Whether I am giving explicit instructions, reading to someone or excited about a new product that I just love, I speak with expression to my audience. I would appreciate the opportunity to be of service to anyone out there who is looking for a genuine voice for a project that is important to you. If it is important to you, it is important to me. I don't know if this will help or hurt my chances, but I have also dabbled in sales. Mary Kay cosmetics to be exact. I love the product and I enjoyed getting together with women to explain the benefits of the product and teach them with "voice instruction" how to care for their skin. (Note: The voice was all I could use because unless you are a licensed cosmetologist, you are not allowed to touch a person's face so as to adminster the product) So if I was going to give a good demonstration and make a sale, my voice had to be the money maker!
