My Voice Experience

I did not intend to find my destiny that day, but sometimes our destiny finds us. It started in February 2006 while I was going to school in Puebla, Mexico. Some friends of mine had begun an Internet radio program and needed some production help doing promos. Having studied broadcast media in Colorado, I offered to help. They set up the promos, but they felt they were missing a comical side to the show, I suggested a gringo character and Michael, along with my voiceover career, was born. I continued to work with them doing other voices and other characters on the program and in the promos until I finished school later that year. I then latched on to New Radio Venture in Denver on March 2007, where I did the same type of voices (young kids, el gringo, el chilango, etc., etc). As a reporter at the station it was there that I also began to do translations both on-air and recorded. I have since added a few voices to my repertoire and continue to do freelance promotional work at the station.

My Training

Universidad de Las Américas-Puebla (Spring-Fall 2006): Masters, Hispanic-American Language and Literature.
GPA: 8.7

Colorado State University (Spring 2001-2004): Bachelor of the Arts; Broadcast Journalism, Spanish.
GPA: 3.52

I had hands-on experience as a broadcast journalist running my own 30-minute sports program at KCSU, Colorado State University's local radio station. I learned all about radio production and voice modification while studying broadcast journalism for three and a half years at CSU. I have since worked both voluntarily and salaried at Radio Formula and KNRV, respectively. I am currently doing theater productions with the Longmont Theater Company in Longmont, Colorado. To this point I have participated in Once Upon a Mattress, Reader's Theater and in April will appear in Deathtrap.
