My Voice Experience
After small stints on radio in Liverpool and Manchester, John decided it was time to move back into acting. In 2003 he appeared in Skint Productions’ Guts which received rave reviews and was long listed in The Stage Ensemble awards.
John then worked with the company in an administrative role taking the company to 3 successive New York International Fringe Theatre Festivals (until finalising his ties in 2007 to focus further on acting).
During this time, he has also worked extensively in the voiceover field as a Continuity Announcer for itv2 (being part of the team which recently received the Digital Channel of the Year award) and also as a main Announcer for the terrestrial channel, Five.
More recently, John has joined the team at Virgin 1 as a Continuity Announcer and can be heard regularly on the Channel. Additional voiceover work includes Promos for Flextech and Virgin Media, narration for the Robbie Williams biography, Facing the Ghosts and various corporate VO’s. John’s acting roles include the feature film, Do Elephant's Pray? alongside Marc Warren (Hustle), the short, Hammered written by Noel Clark (Kidulthood, Adulthood and Doctor Who), A Sporting Jaunt (Wesley Road Films), Kebab (Flaxman Productions) and the Harry Enfield, ‘Snorting Kitten’ viral campaign (The Viral Factory).
Other recent work includes the audio description public service advertisement for the blind and partially sighted recently shown on Virgin Media.
John is a friendly, malleable, consistent performer who is regularly re-employed on this basis.
John, a native northerner, is a graduate of the University of Salford where he studied a BA (Hons) in Media and Performance (2002). It was during this time that John found that as well as acting, he had an aptitude for voiceover.
