Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Some standards are: Surfer, Stoner, Valley guy, Disaffected teen, Goth, Metalhead, Hipster, "Ego-Artist" both smooth and snooty, Southern redneck hick (Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee style, maybe some Louisiana after a julep or two), Exaggerated "white guy" (overly proper), Nasally 30's-40's announcer, Preacher (Televangelist or Southern Baptist/Pentecostal Revival style), Street-smart urban white guy/"wigger"/rapper/thug (low or high-voiced, yes I can rap), and I LOVE weird fun cartoon voices, and pretty much all are unique to the character and direction. I am also adept at highly dramatic readings, even to the point of satirical melodrama. Also run-on sentences.

My Voice Experience

I have always enjoyed the many aspects of sound. From childhood, the textures, emotions, and stories sound can tell, even sans words, has captivated my senses and imagination.

From punk bands, to studies in background sounds and their psychological effects, to music production and engineering, to wave theory and psychoacoustics, my interests have progressed.

Frankly, I am here because I got sick of people telling me I should do it for a living. Find out if you agree.

My Training

Warning, Condensed life story relating to my love of sound follows:

Born in SoCal. I started with voice/piano lessons around 7 or 8, but dropped them a year later. I continued to play the piano, and soon picked up drums and a electronic keyboard. Throughout grade school, I played snare, and learned computer programming (apple II!). Oddly, these seemingly disparate hobbies collided in high-school (still in drumline, now playing guitar and living in Memphis, Tennessee) when I discovered digital recording, synthesis, and arrangement. I bough my 1st 4-track recording box (a bug grey used Tascam), and a sampling keyboard and begun to record everything imaginable and play with it. I made girl-pop (pitch shifters blew my mind), techno, symphonic and even surf music. Buy the time I left college I was preforming, or running sound at regional rave parties, punk/metal shows, underground Dirty-South Rap, and Jazz/Reggae/African gatherings in the mid-south. And while Memphis provided me with the soul and company to enjoy sound, the 3rd burglary of all my studio gear was the last straw. I moved to beautiful, peaceful and inspiring Colorado where I still reside.

TL;DR I have no documented voice-over experience, but I have the ear.

3 SM57's (early 90's, USA made, 2 are matched.)
5 Various vintage dynamics for drums/aux
? Many odd microphones for effect (1920's-current)

Presonus rackmount (use basically for phantom power)
Homebuilt tube pre (2 stage 12ax7 based, hotplate, mono)
Tascam 234 (don't laugh, nice warm rolloff and smooth gain)
Supposed NEVE Copy (Sounds terrible, hipster approved)

Recording interfaces:
Presonus Firepod (10in 10out 24bit/94khz decent sounding ADs)
Homebuilt aux USB AD input 16bit/48khz (nice ad, but lowfi)
Various consumer-quality sound devices (audigy studio, etc)

DBX Compressors (I usually use the 166XL)
DOD 3600 Analog/VCA controlled Digital Delay (also other lesser units)
MANY EQ's Stereo 15's and mono 30's (Rane, yamaha, etc)
Homemade Exciter/Harmonic resonant booster
2 Vocoders (Novation V-Station, homebrew)
Various analog filters and modulators, easily applied to anything, some digitally controled.

A few dozen guitar pedals of all type.
Rackmount Samplers (from vintage 6-bit with analog filters (akai S612) to modern pc-based)

Studio spaces:
2 Fully acoustically treated rooms in my basement, 1 band size, the other for personal/production/mixing. Mixing room EQ'd and treated passively (1st and 2nd reflections, bass trap, etc) houses synths, effects, 2 racks of computer and audio gear. Band room has PA, Turntables, and amps, over 40 sq ft of 3" accusifoam/Rockwool. Both rooms have Studio monitors AND Loudspeakers. 12-channel snake (analog), 2 coax digital, 1 HDMI (for sound and video/cue/videoconferencing) between rooms. Both rooms have webcams for real-time interaction locally or over the internet.

Additional Skills

Audio engineering is a hobby of mine.

I stay fit in my spare time and have decent lung capacity thanks to it.

I'm a network admin, So anything computer, IT, or technical related, I can do. That is SEPARATE from voice work, and you will be billed SEPARATELY. I do not do IT work for free.

I am fearless, and don't mind doing controversial topics/characters.
