Jerome Santucci

Male American Baritone; large range, cartoony

Voice Description

My natural speaking voice is a warm baritone, so I can easily do that classic Disneyland-esque announcer voice if that's what you're looking for.

But I am not just another generic baritone. I utilize a wide range in pitch, tone, timbre, rhythm, and mouth work to do a variety of voices, accents, and sounds.

Patrick Fraley has said, "Your demo shows a very impressive range... you have the goods."

I can give you a deep warm sound, a high squeaky sound, and most anything in between.

I am an excellent whistler and can also do a wide variety of sound effects and animal sounds. I have even dabbled in Tuvan throat singing (aka: khoomei, overtone singing).

My Voice Experience

I have been speaking since I was about 9 months old. I speak every day.

Seriously, though, in February 2010, I was hired to be the narrator for a feature length movie currently in production in France (working title: Being Michael Jackson).

In April 2011, I was hired to voice Colonel Walker for the video game Wing Commander Saga: The Darkest Dawn.

In March 2011, I recorded a TV spot for American InterContinental University.

In June 2010 I was hired as the voice of Giuseppe, an Italian teen immigrant for a cartoon short.

February-March 2010, I did an internet VO for Powerteam International.

In 2009, I did VO for an in-house training program for Experian, but the program never made it to final production.

I have voiced two election ads for truthandhope(dot)org (one TV/internet ad and one radio ad; Sept, Oct 2008). For the second spot, I also assisted in copy editing as well as edited/engineered the audio.

I have been the Registration PA Announcer for the last three years at the Orange County Race for the Cure (2007-2010).

I did imaging and an interview show on Radio Lollipop; Children's Hospital Orange County; 8/14/2008.

I did voice-over, copy editing, and video production for the Snaidero USA Dealers' Conference introductory video, 2005. I had to take lines that were previously poorly translated from Italian to English and make them intelligible.

My Training

Pat Fraley's Cartoon Voice! Event (2/10/07). I got to work with Fraley and cartoon director Ginny McSwain at this workshop.

Junior High and High School Drama classes and productions. I won several awards for outstanding acting and directing as a school boy.

I took multiple linguistics classes as part of my Anthropology BA, so I understand the physiology and psychology of language. I also have a BA in history, so I am not afraid of academic material. I am an avid reader of science magazines, including Discover and Scientific American, so I can handle scientific and technical material. And I worked for 5 years as a licensed pharmacy tech in California, so I am very familiar with medical and pharmaceutical terminology.

I am also an excellent whistler, and can even perform the Tuvan throat singing styles known as kargyraa and sygyt. Listen to my whistling/throat singing demo for examples.

As a substitute teacher, my other job includes a great deal of speaking and reading in front of children and teens, so I understand the youth audience. They are a tough group and will eat you alive if you are boring, so being able to captivate them is a big plus. I understand the education market.

I played trumpet and french horn in junior high and high school band, orchestra and jazz band, and was the drum major for the marching band. So I understand rhythm, pitch, phrasing and musicality.

My wife is in public relations/marketing, so I have some insight into the marketing end of the business, as well. This can definitely help when it comes to understanding and interpreting copy.

My Studio Equipment

Studio: I have built a modular home recording booth.
Microphones: I have a Neumann TLM 103 and an MXL V88; plus Samson Q1U (dynamic) and Samson CO1U (condenser) USB Microphones.
Preamp/interface: TC Electronic Konnekt 6 with IMPACT preamp.
Computer: MacBook Pro running Garage Band, Audacity, Ardour, and Amadeus Pro.

Additional Skills

I am an excellent whistler.

I can do many animal and other sound effects including: elephant, dog, cat, sheep/goat, cow, chicken, monkey, various growls, splats, motor boat/plane, Jetsons' car, baby crying, champagne bottle opening.

I am also one of the few westerners you will find who can do Tuvan throat singing (aka khoomei, overtone singing).

I also specialize in Muppet/cartoon style voices like Kermit the Frog, Shaggy and Scooby, Cookie Monster, Grover, Mickey Mouse, Elmo, and many more (listen to my cartoon demo).
