Jeannie Lin

gal next door, sultry or serious, nerdy or nutty

Voice Description

Represented by the Bobby Ball Talent Agency.

GENERAL: Female, mid-range, a bit raspy and on the deeper side of the spectrum, but I can change with my environment - whether I'm doing something fun or serious, silly or sincere, I like to stretch and see how far into different territory I can go.

EDUCATIONAL: Smooth and clear, and not too fast since many things need thorough explanations. Fine with scientific and medical lingo.

COMMERCIAL: of course depends entirely on the product! I enjoy informative material that is serious, but have tremendous fun with adding the sultry or zany.

NARRATIVE: Young adult to mid age female, with some range for characters. I love both fiction and non-fiction. My SCI-FI roles have made me more silly, deadpan, or over the top. Most recent book is along ADULT content, regarding sex and soaps. Scandalous.

ANIMATION: Kid characters are always a blast, but I love being villains! Experience with older witch and scorceress characters

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

If being over the top, one can be anything! Realistically though, I can speak Mandarin (conversational, not native), or I can throw in a little bostonian in there as a salute to my hometown. :) Most importantly I am always willing to try new characters and find new ways to tell stories!

My Voice Experience

-Narrator for Sex On Soaps, an historical audiobook currently in production

-Voice of Dr. Vonus, the vulcan doctor for Hidden Frontier webseries

-Past employment with an educational company recording audio materials for various subjects and grade levels (elementary through college). If you suddenly have nightmares of grammar, history, or physics when you hear my voice, I've done my job

-USF Media Innovation Team, educational audio. One animated short won a Silver Telly award in 2009. Fantastic being associated with it.

-Phone messages for various marketing companies (I dread one day picking up the phone and hearing myself pitch me)

-Educational material for Alcohol Edu (audio program). Please be careful when you drink.

-Voice and on-camera host for The Dragonboat Channel

-Vitamin Water

-SockPopits kids accessories

-Lawn & Garden WebVision

My Training

I first dabbled in voice over through independent film and theater, and recorded for friends working on projects; however, upon pursuing interest in radio work, I took a voiceover class, and got hooked into the world of voice overs!
Conferences, social voiceover groups, and just staying warm in the mic world in general, I'm still in it and loving it.

My Studio Equipment

Mbox, ProTools, DigiDesign, Shure mic

Additional Skills

Officially, my background is in the Biological Sciences; however, life includes dragonboats, martial arts, and film and theater onto my list of passions as well. On occasion, I also indulge in cosplay geekdom. (hey the more diverse character exposure the better!)

I am comfortable in a scientific and naturalist environment as much as an artistic and theatrical one. I've lived in several different countries growing up and have grown affection for many cultures, but keep sentimental attachment to American culture (be it pop culture or rural lifestyles) at the same time.
I have a sincere interest in way too many things and I believe that's what comes across when I work on my projects.
