deep, resonant, modulated, funny, fun accents, cha
The first time I read a news report on air at broadcast school, everyone in the studio whispered "Wow!" My voice is deep, resonant, smooth, clear and easy to listen to. Can be powerful and authoritative or a soothing storyteller's voice. I've been a pastor for 25 years, and many people have told me they would come to my church just to hear my voice!
I also have a rather dry sense of humor and great timing, and have developed many "faux" fun accents to match it, including spoofs of Southern Aristocracy, Redneck, Scandinavian and many ethnic accents, cave men, etc.
I do characters quite naturally as well, and have near perfect comedic timing.
A business client I have only spoken to via phone actually asked me if I were Jim Bohanen, the syndicated radio talk show host. And a woman sitting behind me during a song service in a church tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I were Johnny Cash!
My voice is very unique, well modulated, and projects very well. It is the voice no one ever forgets. I Can be the consummate professional news anchorman, or a stand up comic, and most things in between. Perfect for anything from radio ads to anime voices, audio books, movie trailers, documentaries and phone messages.
I'm also a trained writer and journalist, and am able to write and edit copy very readily if that is beneficial to you.
I did some radio work and some part time voice over for local ads beginning in 1995.
Right now no one knows me, but I have the unique voice qualities and the personality to become another Mike Rowe or Sam Elliot.
So check back often - I'm a bargain right now.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
accents: Texas, Southern Aristocracy, low-rent redneck, Scandinavian, Irish, Oriental, Reservation Native American, more or less Scottish, Canadian, and peasant Mexican voices. (these are fun accents to fill out a character, but will not in any way fool a native speaker.)
Characterizations are usually ad libbed, but have included Santa Claus, Og and Mgundo the two cave men, Ole and Swen, and various on the spot voices developed for puppets or for rounding out a story I'm telling to illustrate a sermon.
My native accent is a deep Missouri drawl, but I have worked to be able to remove that on demand.
My Voice Experience
Of course the first voice work I did, other than preaching, was in broadcast school in 1993. I did three airshifts a week there as well as recording newscasts and weather, and of course ad spots for the commercial radio station which the college owned and operated.
I later worked part time at a Christian radio station where about the only voice work I got to do was recording the weather.
But about that same time I wrote and recorded spot for a friend's business in which I took on the personna of a backwoods hillbilly. (this was about the time the Redneck jokes were becoming popular). This thing took on a life of its own, and I ended up doing a series of "Redneck" spots for D&J Radio which went on for months! People who barely knew me began greeting me as "the redneck" as soon as they heard me speak, even out of character!
I backed off from voice over for a few years to focus on preaching, but a friend who has done voice over work for many years told me I have a "million dollar voice", and encouraged me to get back into it.
Beyond these tidbits of experience, I also have owned several businesses over the years, and have written and performed many radio spots for them.
My training is mostly thru experience from 25 years as a preacher, and professional experience in the sound booth.
But I did attend one year of technical school training in the radio broadcasting school at Northland Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN,(1992-93) where I was consistently rated in the top of the class.
I also completed a public speaking course at Northland Community College at about the same time.
One of my work study projects was recording textbooks to audio tape for students with reading disabilities.
Also at Northland, I was enrolled in the campus choir course, and took voice lessons, and took an acting class as well.
My major, prior to transferring to the Tech side of the school for broadcasting, was in Journalism. (1990-92) I was editor of the campus newspaper, and have held several professional positions in the newspaper industry since.
My Studio Equipment
I am still in the process of setting up my home studio, but have access to a local radio studio for recording.
