My Voice Experience

I have been in the broadcast business for more than 25 years...mainly as a DJ. I spent six years as a traffic and news reporter too. I have done quite a bit of production/voice-over work at the various stations I've worked at. I've been doing it on the side now from my in-home studio since 2005. Since then, I have done everything from radio, TV and Internet ads for sevaral companies in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale to the Genesis Communications Network in Minnesota, Traffic Geyser in San Diego and Weblistic (now SpotRunner) in name a few. I've done podcasts on health issues and health products, narrations and I am the voice of the soon to be launched online traffic school, TicketRelief.

My Training

As for my education...I actually have a BS degree in Sociology from Suffolk University in Boston. Like so many other people I know who graduated in the 70s, I did nothing with it! As much as Sociology interests me, I always wanted to be a DJ. While living in Ft. Lauderdale, I heard an ad for Brown Institute of Broadcasting...and the rest is history. I signed up and 10 months later, I was in the biz. Yes, I paid my dues working in such places as New Bern and Farmville, NC, Truth or Consequences(yes, there really is such a place)and Roswell NM and Odessa and Beaumont, TX! I finally settled in the San Diego area, which is where I am today, doing what I love...DJing and voice-overs!

My Studio Equipment

My in-home studio consists of a Behringer processor, Eurorack stereo mixer and Marshall mic. I use Cool Edit for my editing software.

Additional Skills

I try to stay up on the latest technology and what's going on in the voice-over and broadcast industries. I am a member of a couple different voice-over groups on the web in which I receive newsletters from. In addition to my experience in radio...I have pretty much been in the entertainment business for most of my life. While in college, I was assistant manager of the top night club complex in Boston (Paul's Mall and The Jazz Workshop). I was assistant manager of two record stores in San Diego. I've been a bartender and I also owned my own mobile DJ business for ten years, where I was the house DJ at the 32nd Street Naval Station in San Diego.
