My Voice Experience
Gary Dayze was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. At the young age of 15, he discovered that he could earn some extra money using his voice. He is a self-taught guitarist, keyboardist and drummer. Gary sang in local rock bands, country bands and wedding bands in the 60's, 70's and 80's. He attended the American Academy of Broadcasting in Philadelphia at the age of 19 and worked briefly as a disc jockey. He was then offered a job as a service dispatcher, which he accepted. Why, you ask? Because it paid more than double what he was making as a DJ!
Gary decided it was time to add an exciting dimension to his life. He served as a volunteer firefighter for 12 years. But, not only did he want to fight fires, he wanted to fight crime. So, in 1976 Gary graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy and worked as a police officer for 15 years. In 1986, after a 16 year old drunk driver struck a utility pole and killed his 5 closest friends, Officer Gary Dayze decided to use his music to try to educate other young drivers about drunk driving. So, he wrote, directed, and produced a 3-part, 21 minute educational music video called "Don't Drive Intoxicated", (Fraternity Records), which was successfully marketed nationwide to high schools, colleges and driver training schools. Shortly after the video and record release, Officer Dayze received international media attention. The title song of the video received national airplay. He went on to write, record, perform and promote his songs about other teen social issues, which included "Teenage Suicide", and "A Stranger In The Night", (about runaway kids), which also received national recognition and airplay. All recordings were released on the Fraternity Records label.
In 1979, Officer Dayze was certified by the Pennsylvania Governor's Office as Crime Prevention Officer. He worked with communities in setting up "SNAP" (Safer Neighborhoods Are Possible), and gave numerous public speaking presentations and recorded PSA's (Public Service Announcements) on "Burglary Prevention", "Women's Safety" and the "Fight Against Drugs" program. He was also presented an award by "FAD" (Fight Against Drugs) for his dedicated service speaking to youth groups about drugs and alcohol.
Gary built his own State-of-the-Art Home Studio in 1986 where he wrote and produced his own music. He continued his voice over career by recording promotional "tapes" for the "Music In America" seminars, working with Shad O'Shea (1931-2009), president of Fraternity Records. Shad, a well known record producer, publisher and voice talent, was known as The Man Of A Thousand Voices. Gary will tell you what an honor and privilege it was to have Shad as a long time friend and mentor. Gary now lives and operates his studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Attended the American Academy of Broadcasting. Played in rock/country/wedding bands since age 15. Worked 12 years as a volunteer fireman which overlapped working 15 years as a police officer/crime prevention officer. Wrote, directed, and produced a 21 minute educational music video called "Don't Drive Intoxicated", which was successfully marketed nationwide. Former Owner/Director of Nationwide Investigations. Former Member of the Professional Bowlers Assoc. Singer/Songwriter - Never made it big, but I did receive some nice royalty checks from BMI for national radio airplay. Worked with the President of Fraternity Records, Shad O'Shea, conducting the "Music in America" seminars. I am a hard worker and will make sure that your project is perfect; always with your approval!
