Voice Description

My voice has most often been described as quirky. For commercials it can be the Guy Next Door with a distinct flair, raspy, nerdy, warm and high energy.

My Voice Experience

While walking to class at San Diego State University in the late '90s, my ear immediately homed in on a deep voice echoing down the halls. I stopped the man and struck up a conversation with him, telling him that he'd be great on the radio. He seemed to be impressed with my voice as well, as he encouraged me to try out for his agent. It wasn't long before they were my agent as well, and soon I was busy with a steady stream of auditions.

My Training

I have taken numerous classes in the art of voice overs from people who work in the industry. As someone so new in the business, I felt particularly flattered to be plucked out of one class in order to go on a couple of auditions.

I would say my most relevant training came from an improv comedy workshop I was involved in, called MICE. The teacher, veteran V.O. actor and writer, Michael Chain, frankly scared the hell out of me, but I stuck with it. That workshop taught me volumes about character and attitude and has served me well in many areas of life.

Additional Skills

I love being directed. I never take direction as criticism, but as a challenge--something that forces me to dig deep within myself and pushes me to come up with the best product I possibly can.
