Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I can do a variety of realistic, natural sounding voices depending on the visual attitude of the actual performer or animated character to be dubbed.
However, I am also known to do goofy and out of the way voices, as needed.
For the most part, when impersonation is required, convincing accents focus on Northern Mexico Light and Macho type dialects, and Texan English if you will.
My Voice Experience
My pride and joy is to be the Home Voice for the Walt Disney Company Mexico. I am also deeply grateful for being the voice of choice for Intecontinental Hotels, DHL, Televisa Networks, all in Mexico, and Bank of America, Fruit of the Loom, Bud Light and other accounts, in the States.
Twenty eight years in the Electronic Media Industry, 25 as a Voice Over Talent. I started off as a Producer and Animator with Telerey Production Services, The Education Department and Televisa Networks, all the while covering Voice Over emergencies common to the medium. Since 1985, after a few twists of fate and working long and hard hours, my career, energy and talent unfolded full time into Voice Over services, with translation and copy assignments on the side, and On-Camera appearences on occasion.
Lifetime credits include Miss Universe, Live Aid, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA local Mexico channel, on-camera host and simultaneous translator, late in the 20th Century.
Bachelor of Radio, Television and Film, from the University of Texas at Austin. Graduated May 23rd, 1981.
Computer animator going back to 1982 through 1984. Received training at Computer Image Corporation in Denver, under the helm of Computer Animation Pioneer, Lee Harrison.
Last but not least, I am continuing a Voice Over family legacy in the steps of my father, Ken Smith, who was a Voice of America talent, as well as the Pioneer of Dubbing in Mexico, going back to 1956, and both my
brothers, Ken (XM Radio) and John, (RIP).
My Studio Equipment
I own and operate recording studios in Mexico City, Mexico, and Houston, Texas.
They are purposely mirrored facilities to deliver equal sound, in order to cover my current travel needs and
still deliver consistent quality sound. (When it comes to pick-ups and do-overs, it is important, believe me.)
Recording services focus on laying down a cold read audio track for delivery or concurrent recording, via Mp3 or ISDN.
I am a good, short lenght copy writer, stemming mainly from an age-old interest in writing Poetry. Not that longer copy is a problem... I just do not have the time.
