Voice Description

I've had various descriptions of my voice which range from a "velvet voice" to a down-home country sound. I have a rich, resonant voice for narration and a smooth and professional sound for corporate and industrial presentations. I've also performed a variety of fun upbeat voices for animation and children's programs.

My Voice Experience

I began my voice over career in 1992. My first job was to narrate a documentary on the life of three famous gangsters, Bugsy, Dutch and Al. I continued to narrate documentaries which ranged from "THE RISE AND FALL OF THE SOVIET UNION" to "JAPAN, TODAY". I've provided tag lines for commercial industrials, narrated videos for medical procedures, various instructional pieces and hosted a series of children's videos directed at kids 3-5 and 7-10 years old. I have also read for audio books; self-help books and most recently was part of a cast of characters in which I played multiple roles. The book was "Resonance" and was recorded at SkyBoat Road in Los Angeles. I recorded a number of videos for the Library Association of America, provided the voice for a number of instructional videos for the Los Angeles Police Department and narrated an industrial for Thrifty Ice Cream. The academy award winning snorkel camera (the camera used for the opening of Masterpiece Theater) required a promo piece I narrated with a faux British accent. I have also recorded books for the Blind and Dyslexic and for the Braille Institute.

My Training

I have been attending voice over classes and various workshops since the late eighties. I began training in New York at Weist-Barron in 1986. I enrolled in classes in Hollywood with Tom Clay around 1988. I've attended more classes than I can remember over the years. I've have the privilege of training with Nancy Wolfson, Dan Ballestrero, Dolores Diehl, Gabrielle deCuir, Steffan Rudnicki, Pat Fraley and many more (all in Los Angeles). The categories I've studied are: commerical voice over, animation, narration and audio books.

My Studio Equipment

I have a full sound booth equipped with a Sennheiser 416 and Shure microphones.

Additional Skills

I was in charge of the Screen Actor's Guild Foundation's
"Book Pals" program in 1991-1992. This program solicited volunteers to read to inner city children. Coincidentally, I hosted a chlldren's video entitled, "Story Starters". The premise was to get young people to begin the process of writing a short story by telling a tale to a certain point and then encouraging the viewer to finish it with their imagination. The producers pointed out that my voice received unprecedented reviews from various PTA groups providing feedback on children's videos. As a result, that began a series of narrating for children's programs.

I'm also a volunteer with the Blind and Dyslexic and the Braille Institute in Los Angeles as well as for the Braille Institute in New York City. Currently I'm teaching English to adult learners here in Barcelona as well as dubbing English for foreign movies.
