Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
Having been a stage actor for many years I have had to perform with many different accents although I don't know how well I did them but I was never fired for a bad accent. British, high and low, german a little, Polish, Irish. I have done some impersonations although I am not practiced at the moment. John Wayne, Yogi Bear, James Mason, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, John Cleese, James Cagney, Richard Nixon, Peter Lorre and probably a few others that I try to make people laugh with.
My Voice Experience
My voice over work was based in Chicago from about 1985 to 1993 when I moved to CA.
I had done work for Campbell Mithun, McDonalds, Live Industrial, Leo Burnett, J Walter Thompson, Pacific Garden Missions. These were mixed between commercial work as an announcer, or some dialog work for comedy purposes. Pacific Garden Missions was a recorded religious radio program performed in front of a live audience.
No college to speak of except a class here and there. Learned on the boards for over 25 years in Chicago, Leading roles in several musicals, leading roles in many dramas, small and leading roles in Outdoor Shakespeare. Leading role in Original production of "Grease" at Kingston Mines in Chicago. Studied voice for a number of years from several different teachers. Was a founding member of "Chicago Actors", from 1977 to 1979. Studied Voice Over at Studio One in Chgo. with Ray Van Steen and Kirk Johnson. Wrote and performed in comedy sketches performed in similar fashion to Second City. 1973-76.
My Studio Equipment
I have a Mac with garage band and I also have some other software for editing sound. I have a large record collection some with just sound effects that can be recorded into digital and used to add to sound bytes.
I worked corporate america for 15 years Xerox, I have been a stage actor starting with Jigger Craigen in Carousel in 1967. I have danced ballet and modern for many years and still perform ballet locally as a character dancer or Pas de Deux partner. I had a hair design license in Illinois and worked with most of the theaters in Chicago. I have a business I run in CA that repairs office equipment. So I guess I am mechanical as well as artistic.
