Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I'm a pretty good mimic and have a strong acting background, so if there's an accent you're looking for and you're willing to give me a day to study it, I can probably do it. I also have fun with stereotypical, exaggerated (not-so-acurate) accents, i.e. Russian, Italian, Minnesotan. I can also read Spanish with a decent Spanish accent. I've also been a convincing robot, you know, like the female "HAL" for a NASA project.
My Voice Experience
I have almost 20 years of experience in non-union voice work for clients from New York to Alaska, Illinois to Texas.
I am the voice for many bank and healthcare clients in the midwest and south.
And I'm your gal (voice) if you need a warm, loving mom; a sexy or naggy wife; or an authoritative professional.
Some of my current clients are:
Arvest Bank (in AR, OK, KS, and MO)
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
Illinois Valley Community Hospital
Hollywood Casino Bay St. Louis (on-hold)
Providence Heart Hospital
Music City Mall
Anchorage Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic
Theatre has been my main training ground, and what little southern accent I had, disappeared after two years at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy's Studio Program in NYC where I had several voice technique classes in addition to acting classes. While I do all types of theatre, my passion and half of my experience is with Shakespeare.
My training has also simply been "on the job" after I got a lucky break in the early 90s from someone in the local voice over world. He was a regular at the restaurant where I worked, always commented on my voice, and finally helped me put a demo together. Thanks, Tom Brannon!
I also have a BA in Journalism from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where everyone thought I was a theatre major because of everything I did in that department, including winning "Best Actress" in the 1992-93 season.
My Studio Equipment
Pro Tools 10 LE
Prima LT ISDN Codec
I am SO directable! My theatre background has helped with that.
I also have some uncanny sense of timing, meaning, it's been amazing many times when my director or engineer will tell me we need to shave a half second, and when I read again, I'll do exactly that - if that's worth anything. Can't claim to always do it, but it's surprising how often I can.
I also keep my ego outside the studio and strive to give the client exactly what they want, keeping a friendly, happy attitude because I LOVE what I do. How lucky am I???
I also have a very flexible schedule, so I can almost always accommodate clients' needs and deadlines.
