Patrick Scofield

Deep baritone character specialist

Voice Description

My voice is like a tool box. I have the big heavy voice capable of being heard all over the dance floor, or I can take out lighter tool and deliver a soft melody of sound that would be better suited to an audio book.

Most of the people who have described my voice tell me that it sounds like to combination of Tom Brokaw and Harrison Ford but that is for you to decide.

My Voice Experience

I owned and operated a 100-year old small town weekly newspaper in North Central Washington. If you have never owned a business then take my word for it you don't want to own a weekly newspaper.

Why, you might ask? Well you get to do it all. No sitting around the office on this job.

I hired, trained (and sometimes fired), office staff, accounting personnel, journalists, reporters, photographers, advertising sales people, and delivery people.

I also did my own radio advertising and created a following of people thought I should sell the newspaper and become a radio personality.

My Training

University of Puget Sound, 80'

While my folks may have paid for tuition that was all they paid for so I worked many jobs during college including 2 years as a DJ for the college station and two years as the general manager and advertising salesman for the student newspaper. I also started my own underground newspaper and did 3 editions in the months leading up to graduation.

During his commencement speech the president singled out 10 students who were in his eye's the great leaders of the class of 80' and I was lucky enough to be in that small group.

Twelve years later I purchased a small 100-year old weekly newspaper based in the small town of Waterville, WA and operated it as publisher and editor-in-chief for 4 years.

As a publisher I was a member of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association (WNPA) and attended many workshops and training courses.

My Studio Equipment

Audiobox USB, Studio One 2, Rode NT1-A, Porta-booth, HP desktop running Windows 8.

Additional Skills

I have excellent speech writing skills and I know the difference between the written word and the spoken word.

I am also a photographer, and a gifted cartoonist, that can quickly draw people, faces, landscapes, and machines.
