Vitality SCAD Senior Film
ZD2196462
Vitality is an animated film I'm currently producing for my senior project. It's about a knight who suddenly gets his heart stolen by a demon, and his son goes on a quest to take it back. I'm in need of voice talent for three characters for the film. It takes place in Medieval England, so an English accent would be recommended. I have provided the script as well.

Character Descriptions:
Edmond (Father)
Age: Mid 40's
Endearing, strong, humorous, brave
- Wants for his son to succeed, trains him to become a knight as well

Amelia (Mother)
Age: Mid 30's to Early 40's
Gentle, sweet, comforting
- Has minor part, but she tends to Edmond while Lewis goes on quest

Lewis (Son)
Age: 16-18
Reserved, Doubtful, Family-oriented
- At first lacks confidence, unsure he's worthy of being a knight
- When father's life is put on the line, he finds new-found bravery

Demon
Age: ???
Menacing, calm, condescending

In a forest by a nearby kingdom, Sir Edmond and his teenage son Lewis are seen sparring together. Lewis wants to become a knight just like his father, so Edmond is preparing him for the royal guard. During their “fight”, Edmond disarms Lewis of his sword and points his blade towards Lewis’ chest.

EDMOND:
Your hands are getting slippery Lewis! You need some gloves?

LEWIS:
(sarcastically)
Daaad…
(sighs) Maybe I’m not cut out to be a knight like you.

Lewis sadly walks over to retrieve his sword. Edmond looks on with a concerned face. He puts a hand on Lewis’ shoulder.

EDMOND:
Of course you are, my boy. You just have to find your courage. And the only way you can do that is to face your fears.

The father-son moment is cut short as Edmond’s warm face quickly turns serious. He alertly looks around.

LEWIS:
What is it dad?

EDMOND:
…Something’s wrong. Stand your ground son.

The forest becomes eerily silent as Edmond and Lewis hold up their swords, ready to fight. Out of nowhere, a cloud of dark smoke bursts through the trees and rushes behind Edmond. As he turns around, the smoke goes through his chest and transforms into a druid-like demon. It cackles as it clutches Edmond’s heart in its hand, and disappears into thin air. Lewis, witnessing all of this, fearfully looks up where the demon once was.

EDMOND:
(faintly)
L-Lewis…

Lewis looks back and is shocked to find a staggering Edmond staring at him. His skin is now pale and his eyes glassy, as if all of the life was sucked out of him. Edmond falls to his knees.

LEWIS:
Dad!!!

As Lewis runs to his father, he collapses to the ground and everything instantly fades to black.
(Cue Title sequence)
The next shot shows a stone-faced, cold Edmond lying in bed. A hand appears as it raises a spoon towards his mouth. It’s Edmond’s wife, Amelia, who attempts to feed him but fails. She looks up and sees Lewis enter the room. Lewis sits by Edmond, and is brought to tears by his father’s lifeless stare.

LEWIS:
I promise you dad…I will get your heart back.

AMELIA:
(consoling Lewis)
Take care my son. Make our family whole once more.

She sends off Lewis with a kiss on his forehead and watches from the bedroom window as he sets forth on his journey. Amelia glances back at her husband, still sitting upright in his bed.
We cut to Lewis well away on his travels with map in hand. He halts at the foot of the demon’s cave, taking a deep breath before stepping in. Lewis finds himself alone in the dark cave, until the entrance suddenly disappears.

“Hmm…I wasn’t expecting any visitors,” A mysterious voice calls out

It’s revealed to be the demon, who unexpectedly appears behind him.

DEMON:
Does my intruder have a name?

LEWIS:
I…I am Lewis, son of Sir Edmond.

DEMON:
Ah, so you’re the son of…”Edmond the Brave”. You know, of all the pathetic hearts I’ve reaped, I’ve never seen one quite as powerful as your father’s.

LEWIS:
I’m not leaving without his heart.

The demon abruptly teleports behind Lewis, leaning towards his ear.

DEMON:
What makes you think I’d let you leave with yours?

The demon conjures a cloud of smoke around him, transforming into a giant beast, wearing Edmond’s heart around his neck. Lewis readies his blade and charges towards the demon. Sequences of the fight are seen in the light of Edmond’s heartbeats. The demon scuffs Lewis’ cheek and throws him to the ground. As the demon prepares to land the final blow, Lewis quickly grabs his sword and stabs through the beast’s chest. The demon cries in pain and dissipates into smoke, leaving only Edmond’s heart behind and the cave reopened. Lewis goes to pick up the heart and smiles.

Lewis returns to his home to find his mother still at his father’s vigil. Edmond’s heart turns into a white smoke and finds its way back to his chest. His eyes turn from glassy grey to a normal brown hue. Edmond regains his bearings and grasps his chest, and hears a hello from Lewis beside him.

LEWIS:
Hi Dad. After taking this journey, I feel like I finally found my courage. I think…I’m ready to be a knight.

EDMOND:
(places his hand on Lewis’ neck)
Son. You were a knight before you even left.

The film ends with a scene of the reunited family hugging.
