This audio account will form part of the permanent exhibit at the Canadian Museum of History set to open in July 2017. The hall is dedicated to telling the history of Canada from inception to current times. The collection is made up of 3 Galleries all of which contain a number of audiovisual as well as interactive programs. All exhibits will be presented in both English and French.

Normalement, une centaine de familles participaient à la chasse. Les cours d’eau étaient passés à gué, puisqu’il n’y avait pas de ponts. La rivière Saskatchewan étant la plus large et la plus dangereuse, nous étions soulagés après l’avoir traversée… Nous avions toujours un chef de caravane et ses ordres étaient respectés. Un drapeau flottait au-dessus de sa charrette. Il guidait les gens et nous le suivions. Lorsque le troupeau était affolé, il prenait l’allure d’une masse, sombre, solide et mouvante. À cette époque, nous ne pensions jamais que les bisons seraient exterminés, car il y en avait des milliers et des milliers… Tous les cavaliers de la chasse avaient des fusils, des canons simples à platines à silex, certains, à chargement par la bouche avec capsules… Les cornes de poudres et les sacs de balles étaient portés en bandoulière. À bout portant, les fusils pouvaient tuer l’animal… Lorsque la mise à mort était terminée, les femmes aidaient à rapporter la viande; ensuite venait le dépeçage.
